Dear friends & colleagues,
The right to vote is extremely important in Democracy. It is a fundamental rights of the citizens. People exercise their sovereign rights through voting process. It is a means and ways to exercise a sovereign power inherent in the peoples. That's why it is a utmost important that Nepali citizen across the world must be allow to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming CA election. Peoples at large must be able to articulate their thought and vision in new constitution, since it would create a foundation and road map for new Nepal. As you already aware that we launched a signature campaign to assert voting rights of Nepalese people abroad. We submitted our signature to the Nepal government as well as election commission via Nepalese embassy in Washington, DC. We are encouraged that large number of Nepalese peoples were participated in the signature campaign from all over the world in order to demand and assert their right to vote which is the universal and sovereign rights of the people. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks who supported, actively participated, endorse and put their signatures in this campaign. It is a collective effort and campaign. We are able to collect three thousand signature's which reflect a widespread support and and democratic aspirations of Nepalese diaspora which need to be acknowledge and must be respected.
I am fully confident that sense will prevail and our leaders and politicians will realize the urgency, seriousness and gravity of the issue, show a political will, take a necessary step toward it and make relevant legal or regulatory mechanism in order to translate voting right issue in reality. We need to build a strong pressure and public opinion for it. Democracy is all about citizens activism and public opinion. Public opinion is the supreme force in a democracy. I urge to all our friends and colleagues to raise their voice in this issue. Thanks again.
