Nepalese Society of TX (NST) is supposed to act imediately in grave situation like this when Mr Silwal, a student living in Dallas and going to North Lake College in Dallas, is admitted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas after he met with an accident few days back. So far, the NST has done nothing except sending an e-mail letting people know that Silwal is admitted at the Parkland and has asked "Can we do something?".

The NST and it's president should take initiative to develope ways to help Silwal out. It is their job and that's why people voted for them, including myself, thinking that they would do something good for the society especially during hard times like this. They have not updated us after the first e-mail that they sent and have not come out of anyways to raise funds or think about other ways to help Silwal and if they have, they should notify all of us. I am really very sad and shocked at their inability and incompotence to work during such time. The presidential post, vice presidential post, secrectarial post and so forth are not just for doing nothing; people voted them and expected them to do something good for the Nepalese society. They should learn someting and act imediately to help this guy. out or it will be a shame for them.

HappyFace, you re right however these people in the Society of Texas can't be trusted. Several times they have hidden how the fund had been distributed to the victims.

We need to find a trust worty person among the Dallas nepalese group and hand him over this responsibility.

Why don't you guys kick the president's asssss offf....tell him that his post is not only for arranging some get togethers and parties but also to help the needy people....And also why don u ask Dr. Murali who was collecting money for making temple....Telll him that its better to help needy people than to build the temple and stuff....

"trust worty person " Good luck with that.

I think it's about time for us to elect white people as our leader (I mean in the US), at least they'll get the job done. It will hurt our pride to do that, but then may be we'll learn from them. To trust another Nepali with leadership is a SIN.

Manang..you're 100% true.

***THIS IS THE E-MAIL SENT BY A MEMBER OF THE NEPALESE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS (NST). It seems like they have been doing somethings to help Raj Silwal out, but just had not updated people or had not have a chance to do so. I truly appreciate and admire all the efforts of the NST people who have devoted their time and strength in helping Raj. Hopefully, they will also initiate a fund raising for him. No hard feelings to the NST, but we were not aware of anything being done by the NST, which led me start this thread. Sorry about that and Good Luck. PLS do keep us posted regarding the matter. Thanks NST!***

Dear Friends,

It was a bit disheartening to read your comments and views towards NST. It is really easy to write against anyone sitting from your home.

Just for an update. We received a phone call at 11:00 PM from the hospital. The next morning we were there. The operation had to be done anytime soon. The first thing we thought of doing is to get Raj's family members here. We started working on the paper work. Before the operation there was nothing more we could do but pray to the Almighty. We sent an email so that people can visit Raj in the hospital. Unfortunately the response was not good. Maybe people were busy with their work, that they did not have time to drop by and wish a young boy from their country who was fighting against brain tumor.
We started taking turns to be with him spending nights in the hospital. Ramji and Janakji were in the forefront. NST members were present when the operation took place. Every moment was spent in nervousness and hopes. Our prayers were heard and the operation was successful. Now we gonna raise funds to get Raj's parents and also to support Raj till he is normal. We gonna apply for charity, the college insurance does only cover a small part of it. There is a lot to do... And NST is doing the best it can...

Now to you... Are you just gonna talk the talk or also walk the walk....

There are few things NST needs help and I hope the members who have shown their interest in Raj and the inability of NST will come forward to help us.
Funds for Raj and to get his family members here. Let us see how much you can contribute.
Take turns at night to be with Raj in the hospital. Let us see how many hours you can help.
I am sorry if my writing has hurt you. Your support for NST is not just to come and vote but to be with NST in these hard times. NST needs young people like you.
NST is not just few members but a whole community. Its success is the success of the community. As a community member there are many ways you can make it successful.

Thanks for your comments... It shows that as a Nepali you are concerned for another Nepali. Just the blaming game was wrong...

GOD BLESS NEPAL

HappyFace, you are right, NST needs help, a big help in fact. Since the year 1999, when guys like Baikuntha and Niraj Shrestha were given to run the organization, Nepalese people living in DFW have not been able to put themselves in a position to trust any body. They stole money from honest Nepalese without leaving a trace behind. Well that was an old story.

For now you can just check the NST official website and see for yourself

the URL is : http://www.nepalesesociety.org

I visited Mr. Silwal at the hospital today.  According to the Nurse, he is doing much better from the previous day.  It was my first time to visit him, so I have no idea how was he yesterday and the day before.  He  still need so much time to recover.  He was too tired when I was visiting, so he did not talk much.  There were few people when I was there.  He needs our prayers and all the support that we can give. Members from NST are visiting him regularly and doing the best they can.   Anyone, who live in DFW are please go and visit him, he have no one here but we Nepali.  I will visit him again tomorrow and let you guys know how is he doing.
