Like most broke Nepali students I had to use my SSN in order to work this summer. Thanks to my rather illegible

writing, my W2 from my summer job has the wrong social security number and my name is also slightly

misspelled  (the manager could not decipher my hand writing all that well and typed the wrong SSN and also

misspelled my name).

So...the question is , should I let this slide and not claim taxes coz both my SSN and name are wrong on the

w2  form , ( so that its not gonna show illegal work on my part further down the line if this goes through), or

should I inform my summer employers and ask them to make corrections and send me a new w2? please let me

know the consequences/chances of getting away if possible.

Thanks..

i don't think that was a good way to play a joke (even though only initially) in a serious matter like this and when someone is so serious.

JwaiSahab, i think you should consult an account (Nepali) to be better advised. i am not sure where you livw, but there's a Nepali account in TX who I am sure will help you provide advise on the matter. you can get his # by visiting the Nepalese Society of TX website, which is located in the sajha.com as well. If you don't find his contact info there, just e-mail the president or secretary of the NST and they will help you out with his contact info.

Good Luck!
