2 NOC senior officials caught red-handed asking bribe

Kantipur Report

NAWALPARASI, Sept 18 - Two senior officials of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) were caught red-handed asking for bribes here in Nawalparasi district on Thursday.

A team led by Tarun Dal district leader Ganesh Bahadur Basnet caught the directors of the NOC’s Central Quality Monitoring Department Damber Basnet and Ananda Acharya while they were asking for bribe of Rs 100,000 today at Daunne Devi Oil Store.

Accepting their crime, the NOC officials have apparently claimed that they have been taking bribes from the local NOC dealers as they have to give the sum to NOC Chief Digamber Jha every week.

Owner of the Oil Store Nanda Kishore Joshi said that he gave Rs 100,000 after the NOC officials asked for Rs 300,000 directly without any inspection

What u sajhas frens say about this issue...?

FOR ME THERE IS NOTHING NEW! THATS REGULAR STUFF WHICH OCCURED MORE AFTER DEMOCRACY RESTORED IN NEPAL. TRUST ME  I HAD TO SUFFER IN EVERY GOVERNMENT OFFICE IN NEPAL WHILE I WAS IN NEPAL. BUT What to do there was no any other option for me other than giving some money what they asked. otherwise they gonna prolong my stay in nepal that means i might gonna lose my job here.

This must be the usual practice. Our court will prove them innocent later. No wonders.

Asking for, and taking, bribes (amounting to extortion, I would think, by definition): TYPICAL, EVERYDAY AFFAIR IN NEPAL

Being caught red-handed and prosecuted: hmmmmm
