About two dozen Constituent Assembly (CA) members are flying to the
United States Thursday evening to participate in a 10-day seminar titled
'Boston Negotiation and State Building Programme for Nepali Political
Leaders.'

The programme is jointly organised by the US Department
of State, Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, US NGO
Karnuna Centre for Peace Building and Nepali NGO Institute for Peace,
Conflict Management and Development (ICPD).

Nepali CA members
will be trained on team building, developing inter-party cooperation and
principled negotiations and leadership during the seminar.

They
will also meet members of House of Representatives, senators and
Governor of Massachusetts.

The 23-member Nepali delegation
includes 22 CA members from various political parties represented in the
CA including  Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Madhesi
Janadhikar Forum (MJF), MJF-Loktantrik, Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party
(TMLP) and Sadhbhawana, among others. NC leader Arjun Narsingh KC is the
only person in the delegate who is not a CA member.

The
participants include CP Gajurel, Agni Sapkota, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and
Pampha Bhusal from the UCPN (Maoist), Arjun Narsingh KC, Ramesh Lekhak
and Suprabha Ghimire from NC and Pradip Gyawali, Lakki Sherpa and Sapana
Pradhan Malla from UML.

They are leaving for US by a Gulf Air
flight at 7 pm, Thursday.

The US embassy in Kathmandu had hosted
a dinner to the participants of the seminar Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile,
analysts have taken the US government's decision to award visa to
Maoist CA members and co-sponser them as a policy shift of the US
government towards Nepal's Maoists.

Two years ago, when the UCPN
(Maoist) was leading the government the US government had refused to
provide visa to erstwhile minister Pampha Bhusal. They had also refused
visa to Maoist vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and CA member Sabitra
Dura to go to US for the UN general assembly.

Wastage of money but a fun and vacation fro them, nothing else.  Who ever paid the cost, still a wastage of money and resources. These CA members will not follow the democratic values rather than party line talks so it has no sense and meaning  as "भैसके आगे बिन बजाए"

Lesson providing Journey........

First and foremost I, on behalf of Nepal and its people like to sincerely thank the US Department of State (DOS), Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, US NGO Karnuna Centre for Peace Building and Nepali NGO Institute for Peace, Conflict Management and Development (ICPD) for steering the leaders into the right track. This route not only makes sense in terms of convincing our so called leaders about democracy but also demonstrate them how it is executed. Seeing is believing --- I do strongly believe this journey will definitely let our leaders edify strategies on how to “not just screech for democracy but how to sustain it once it’s acquired”….
The other issue (which is possible that our leaders would be shocked as “cultural shock”) is the corruption…the same leaders who escorted their ways from election (or even by terrorizing the public) to get into the designations, will totally understand that whatever they did in the past was wide of the mark and that we are preety optimistic that they learn once again “ ghus dinya ra ghus linya saabai desh ka satru hun”……
When analyzing the other part of the coin, this is a big whack to Nepali leaders and the government. It undoubtedly states how frail we are that we call for someone to educate us on how to scratch the constitution. The question now arises: who were leading our nation in the past? Leaders who never did what they say………and we poor people always kept on demanding stuffs which was out of their understanding…….Poor leaders………….
It would have been a whole different story had the fresh graduates from political sciences came to attend the 'Boston negotiation and state building program seminar” but they are the same leaders who lead us and also protected our nation’s sovereignty in the past .Clearly we were in not-so-safe hands….lets pray this journey will make them mature enough to rule the country so that we can live our life to the fullest and also be “Proud Citizens of Nepal”…………….
