KATHMANDU, SEP 12 -
Transparency International-Nepal has urged the government to
investigate and take immediate action against those involved in
corruption.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, Transparency asked the government
to take appropirate measures to end this malpractice. Such a remark
comes after the arrest of Dol Bahadur Karki, a CPN-UML Constituent
Assembly member, by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of
Authority on the charge of bribery. (Kantipur)

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)
today arrested an
officer (लक्ष्मण अर्याल) of Division Cooperatives Office, New Baneshwor, while
receiving
Rs 30,000 as bribe. The officer is being kept at the CIAA detention
centre. “He was arrested receiving bribe red-handed in the process of
registering an organisation in an improper manner,” Ishwori Prasad Paudel, CIAA
spokesperson said. (The himalayan times)
C. NEA test annuled
KATHMANDU: Commission for the
Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Thursday annulled the
examination process at Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for appointment of more than 150 office assistants. CIAA canceled the exam after it found that
high ranking officials had taken Rs two lakhs per person as bribe for appointment. (The himalayan times)
