Abodhbalak is wrong in my opinion. I don't know the correct word for "Chaku" in Hindi but I am sure it is not "Gud". The meaning of "Gud" is "Sakkhar"

So,

Gud se meetha ishq ishq

 means

Sakkhar bhanda guliyo maya..

in Nepali..

@khatechor and ihateamerica,

I'm ready to accept that I'm wrong if all these sources are wrong:

you see ingredeints#5? that says molasses/chaku...now use google translator and translate molasses to hindi....let me know what result you get.

"Chaku" is a unique sweet. Its originality can be well described if anyone here is from "Tokha" or  who is really familiar. As far my knowledge, it is made from "Sakhhar" but in hindi its not "GunD".
@user, if you r in dallas, i found chaku at "nepali dai ko pasal" @ irving 2 yrs ago, i hope he is still carrying that. enjoy!!

 Happy Yomari Punhi!!!

Gud is the correct word, VELI in some parts of Terai.You can call it JAGGARY( easily available in indian stores)   or molasses too...Shakkar is sugar, isn't it?

Western Terai ma Sakkhar lai Veli bhanincha and Eastern Terai and India ma Gud bhanicha. Middle areas of Nepal ma Sakkhar bhanincha.. Ani Sakkhar bhaneko sugar hoina, chini bhaneko sugar ho.

thuikka mora, tera tigra sapre pachi hami lai k garnthis tha bhoos tigre dhandukari mora, bhanera hamra hajur ba le diyeko arti anusar:

chaku, gud, molasses, jaggery all belong to the same family. the difference lies in the boiling process. after the cane is crushed, sugarcane juice is boiled to yield varieties of sugar. the one we call gud gets heated for the shortest duration compared to chaku - the longest and thus more concentrated and better to taste.

when you boil this too long (taking care not to burn it off), it crystalizes to brown sugar. throw in some charcoal through a filter -- the industry uses animal bone charcoal (you thought where all the animal bones went?) -- it becomes the best white crystalline sugar that you can buy in a grocery store.

tehi bhayera bhagawan lai sakkhar chadaunu bhannu bha cha hajurba le!
