Hello all,

I am planning to transfer my wife from F 1 to H4. Want to know if anyone has done that and how is the process..how long it will take. Another thing is she has a SSN, and use it to work outside and we file taxes jointly...what will happed to her SSN..will she be allowed to work using the same SSN...even though working in F1 was illegal too.
One last thing, I am in the process of applying for the green card and I had submitted my wife's document as a F1 student...will it effect the process if I change her status to H4?

Any help or experience information is appreciated.

i539 for adjustment of status u can eFile($290)  it how long no one is in position to answer that based on cases
i think H1-4 are immigrant intent visa so better to convert in that and apply for GC 
i485 is the form that you file in your GC to adjust the status form F1 to GC H4 to GC no matter what your status it
i485 is called Adjust of Permanent Resident Status so they will adjust from whatever to GC after you are in that state
SSN will be same for ever whether u  r in F1 H1-4 GC or Citizen legal or illegal
