'अमेरिका लाग्नु' is an all encompassing phenomenon. Although it affects different people in varying degrees, its presence cannot be overlooked. Upon their arrival to the US, Nepalis often find themselves confounded by the cultural disparities of what they left behind and what lies before them. Food items, social behavior, American references , slang and all other things American .......   A fast learner seamlessly integrates into Western society while the ones hailing from the hinterlands often find themselves at odds with it. Unfettering the societal chains of Nepal  many young men and women gain the following  in a couple of years

20 lbs of flab:
Love of Alcohol, in many cases dire
Secretly or otherwise they fantasize of getting laid by khairis/khaires.
Girls with strict dads never miss a chance to dress in skimpy clothing
Sojha Nepali boys become potsmokers and gangfighters
Most Nepalis develop a liking for football and start belittling cricket..


etc..

I like what yu got in the last point. I used to love cricket back home, but now i barely follow 'em. And, football..seriously dude i used to think its no better than the bull fighting...but now yu can see me most of the time wearing those big cowboys jersey. I think its not about showing off but its more of a natural thing...coz there barely any cricket in medias and all yu see are those gigantic football players..
I am not sure about potsmoking..,there might be some but not whole bunch of 'em but yu r right 'bout beers...i gained 25 lbs...gwad...
Anyway,,therez nothing wrong in assimilating to the culture of your
adopted country but keep your roots alive!!!
