how do i disable apps for keep running itself? i have installed advanced task killer but is there anyway i can completely disable apps for running itself. its draining my battery. and i have one more question how do i transfer my phone contacts to gmail?
i am new to android phone coming from iphone.i need help. thanks in advance.

dont use advance task killer, it drains more battery!!. Use the android built in 'running services' under settings. As per your question on disabling the default running on app: when you run any app, press the menu button, there is usually a refresh interval or some setting like that for you to dictate how soon you want it to refresh.
