I need to buy airline tickets to go to Ktm for Dashai.  My initial search showed Jet Airways as the cheapest option; round trip from EWR for around $1500 in coach.  I have never flown Jet Airways, nor have I flown through India.  If you have, please help me by posting your answers to following questions:

• How is Jet Airways?  How would you compare it to Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airlines?
• Will my luggage be checked in all the way to KTM (and directly to the US on the way back) or do I need to checkout/checkin in Delhi/Bombay?
• How is the layover in Delhi?  
• Looks like I have to stay overnight there, what are my options as far as hotels are concerned?
• Is there a hotel within the airport so that I do not have to go through Indian immigration?
• Is there anything I need to be concerned about in regards to traveling via India?

1. dont have enough data to compare
2. mine were checked to ktm. no need to check out at IG Airport
3. place is good enough. sleeping type chairs (?) are available, I had used that to get couple of hours of sleep
4. I didnt bother to venture. They said i need to check out the luggage if I want to go out of the airport
5. none in the 'transit' area. only couches
6. yes if you are in 'no-fly' list of India

Decided not to fly Jet Airways after all.  

Instead, bought Virgin Atlantic + Gulf ticket from Chandra Kala didi at Worldwide Travels.  JFK-LHR-BAH-KTM and return for $1375 in the month of October.  This is my first time flying this route.  If anyone has relevant insights or anecdotes, please post.

 Just a word of advice if anybody is flying Virgin Atlantic.  They allow only one check-in suitcase, as opposed to other airlines which allow two per passenger.
