Ok, I just got off a call from AA agent and am totally confused. I'm travelling to KTM via Delhi next week via American Airlines and Jet. In the website below, it says that if you're travelling via INDIA, only 1 checked in bag is allowed so I called them and the rep confirmed that only 1 checked in bag is free.
My friend's parents just arrived last week via delhi and they apparently didn't have any issue bringing 2 checked in bags so what's the actual rule? Anyone have any insight?
Thanks.

It is one checked bag each, via Delhi (AA and Jet) by rule .

Carrying baggage rule always depend on the initial carrier you fly with...as in your friends parents case they must have flied with the Jet/AirInida which allows two baggages so the connecting flights will have no issue and can not do anything about it...as in your case its American Airlines which is not allowing two baggages...so it has nothing to do with the place but the initial flight carrier you use...

I hope this answers your question

When you fly to US or Canada most of the airlines allow two checked in baggage no matter where you fly from.

When you fly from US or Canada, it depends upon the airlines.

Even if your airlines allows you two checked in baggage, but you have a transit in Delhi en route Nepal, you are in a mess. You have to re check your baggage in Delhi airport and they don't allow the same baggage allowance. You either end up paying for excess baggage charge or become a vicitim of Indian corrupt system. You can read hundreds of threads in Sajha which were dedicated to Delhi Airport .

No problem flying from Kathmandu to Delhi and onwards though.

Last summer I went on American airlines. They allowed me only one baggage. First get the detailed information from them before u start packing. They charged me extra dollars for extra bags. But I was allowed 2 checked baggage when I came from Nepal to India and it was free.
