Kathmandu, Oct 21 (PTI) Nepal Police have nabbed a 27 -year-old man from the outskirts of Kathmandu, who allegedly impersonated a girl in a Facebook account, in the first such case registered under the cyber crime act.

Acting on behalf of the girl with surname as Shrestha (first name of the girl has been kept secret), Tapta Kumar Shrestha posted vulgar comments and nude photographs to different men including her friends.

He was arrested from his residence yesterday acting upon the complaint lodged by a 23-year girl, residing in his neighbourhood, said Deputy superintendent of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police.

The boy had downloaded a photo of the girl with whom he harboured personal grudges and opened a fake account in her name, the police official said.

"Soon after that he started fooling many people including her relatives through the social networking site under her name".

She had lodged a complaint against the boy after many of her friends expressed shocks at the photos posted into her account.

This is the first such case registered in the police Under the cyber crime Act, the boy could be fined upto Rs.
200,000 and imprisoned for maximum of two years if convicted.

A case has been filed in Kathmandu District Court against the boy by taking him into custody, said DSP Singh.
