Is it possible to send  imsg thru i phone without a sim card?  The iphone is running on iOS 4, firmware 4.10.01..  Any gurus who knows how to send imsg thru iphone without a sim card?

you can't have imessage functionality on iphone unless you upgrade to ios 5 or above. But, keep in mind that once you upgrade to ios 5 then ur baseband/mordern firmware will upgrade to 4.11.08, which will make your iphone unlockable.

you should be able to send imessage without sim card. Imessage is available on ipod touch too. I believe you have to activate phone with sim card and then remove that once activated.

thanks rahashya for reply. I am not planning to unlock the phone right away. After a month I am planning to unlock it and send it back to nepal. But right now I want to use the imessage from the phone. What do u suggest? what should I do? Should I upgrade to iOS? is it possible to preserve the baseband 4.10 for later?

Upgrading iPhone 4 while preserving baseband is possible. Google it.

If you upgrade without preserving your baseband your phone will be locked and you might have to wait for new unlock software or hardware. Not even sure if it will ever come out.

I suggest you to stick with ios 4 if you dont want to use it as iPod. Or, upgrade while preserving your baseband.
