What love is for one person cannot be said for another person. There I was into my late teens and I thought I had figured out what it was.

Pawan and I were inseparable. We used to talk everyday and we never ran out of topics to talk about. I would start a sentence and he would complete it. Most of our conversation would occur over the phone and internet. And when we met, he would always sweep me of my feet. He was definitely not very good looking guy.  As time passed by I found him to be more charming than I had initially thought.  I don’t know how simple casual friendship turned into such a wonderful thing.

I still remember him when I first met him.  He was just down to earth kind of guy. His attitude towards life was simple. While most of my friends of my age came as showoffs and nerds, he came forward as smart thinking guy. We had our favourite hangout spots. Basantapur, Mangal bazaar, Sidha pokhari you name it, back in the days it was our place where we would casually walk and talk forever. He always told me things I wanted to hear. It was his words that always won my heart.

I was studying computer science in KU and he had completed his Bachelors in similar field from India.  It seemed like we had planned everything.  We both had planned to go to US together. In short time frame, he had inspired me a lot. Although I used to get good grades I was really not into studies. I got grades because that was what my parents had told me to get. This time I was motivated due to prospect of love and for sake of us being together. I was ready to forsake everything for chance of being with him.

Today was my birthday. We had decided to go to our one of our usual place, i.e. Grasshopper  Café in Basantapur.  Although it was a small place, we always loved the dim lighting that it had. It was always perfect to set mood for romantic conversation.  We had chicken chilli and momos together with some chilled beer.  Both of us being foodies devoured it hungrily and then came the silent phase.

We stared at each other. He just leaned forward to me. I knew he wanted to kiss me. It was our moment. I acknowledged, moved myself forward and slowly he joined his lips with mine. That was my first kiss.

Oh boy, oh boy I was so excited. Like every other girl, I too always dreamed my first kiss to be special and it was everything I dreamed of. He pulled his body away from me and looked straight into my eyes. I just was not able to look back at him. But I did not want him to move away. I wished this moment last forever. Then he said, this is my birthday gift. I was so happy.

Then he said “ I got something else.” It was a watch. No it was not branded watch, even if it was I would not recognize then.  He said “I love you honey, always wear this watch. It will be witness to our splendid relationship. Let’s mark this date, five years down the road we both will still be together and we both we be successful in our lives.” This time he did not need to lean forward nor did I ask him for permission. I felt he was mine and kissed him once again.

ojaswi ji, you remind me of my past.
      Althought we weren't in teen at that time, We also used to hang out in same place- basantapur, khichapokhari, Naagpokhari, Bangalamukhi and so on. We used to plan a lot like we had clue. One day I bought two matching watches- one for me one for her telling her that "this is my first gift symbol of time." we used to promise that we will never change even time changes. But we never knew how the time flies away. I didn't even think I will be losing her. In another life I will make her stay, so I don't have to say she is the one that got away. LOL...............

Title of the post and post itself is facing in different direction.
I didn't find any connection at all. What do you mean by 'hopeless place' in the context??
'First kiss' would have been better title.

- Had it been a story narrated by a guy (or myself too), I would not have find it that romantic ( relatively speaking). Is it just me or anyone else too felt that way?
- Nevertheless, good penning !!

@spyglass:
Just a kind reminder : You got to forget her no matter what. I hope you got quite hell of suggestion in your own post/thread.
