२०५६ साउनतिर नेकपा एमालेकी नेतृ सुशीला नेपालले पार्टीका सहकर्मी लालबाबु पण्डितलाई विवाहको कुरा ल्याइन्। 'मैले चिनेको एउटी चेली छ, बिहे गर्ने हो?' सुशीलाको प्रश्नले लामो समयदेखि एक्लो जीवन बिताउँदै आएका लालबाबु गम्भीर बने। त्यसको एक वर्षपछि पार्टीका अर्का सहकर्मी शेरधन राईले लालबाबुलाई भेटेर उही कुरा सुनाए, 'माननीय सुशीला नेपालले कुरा गर्नुभएको चेली तपार्इंका लागि उपयुक्त हुन्छ, के छ विचार?' फेरि पनि लालबाबु गम्भीर बने। जवाफ दिइहाल्न सकेनन्। २०५८ सालमा प्रज्ञा भवनमा आयोजित एक कार्यक्रममा लालबाबु समयमै पुगे। साथीहरूसँग भेटघाट, कुराकानी हुँदै थियो। त्यही भिडबाट कसैले कानमा भन्यो, 'तपाईंका लागि कुरा हुने गरेको विमला महत पनि यहाँ आउनुभएको छ।' सामूहिक रूपमा विमलासँग उनको सामान्य चिनजान भयो। पटक–पटक साथीहरूले बिहेका लागि कुरा गरिएकी केटीसँगको पहिलो भेटमा उनी थप बोल्नै सकेनन्। बिहेकै कुराले उनी तेस्रोपटक पनि गम्भीर बने। कुनै जवाफ दिन सकेनन्। त्यही वर्षको फागुन १० गते नारी दिवसका सन्दर्भमा सिंहदरबारस्थित संसदीय दलमा यी दुवैको अकस्मात् जम्काभेट भयो। सामान्य कुरा भयो। हाँसो साटासाट भयो। संसदीय दलका नेता भरतमोहन अधिकारीको चेम्बरमा भएको उक्त भेटमा अन्य नेताले दुवैलाई जिस्काए पनि। 'चेली यिनै हुन्। के छ विचार, आजै टाकनटुकन पार्ने कि लालबाबुजी?' एक नेताले त मुख फोरिहाले। पटकपटक गम्भीर हुँदै आएका लालबाबुको अनुहार रातो भयो, मुसुक्क हाँसेमात्रै। 'मैले त्यस बेला परिवारसँग कुरा गर्नुपर्छ भनेँ,' नागरिकसँगको कुराकानीमा लालबाबु सम्झन्छन्, 'मैले त्यसो भन्दा सबैको अनुहारमा खुसी छाएको थियो।' ... मंगलबार साँझ पुल्चोकस्थित सामान्य प्रशासन मन्त्री बस्ने क्वाटरको आँगनमा पुग्दा रातो धोतीमा सजिएकी एक महिला कौशीबाट बाहिर नियाल्दै थिइन्। 'के कामले आउनुभयो, भित्र बस्नुस् न?' उनको आग्रहपछि हामी मूल ढोकासम्म पुग्यौं। गाउँघरका आमा, दिदीले लगाउनेजस्तो रातो जाली चप्पल ढोकाबाहिर राखिएको थियो। हामीले त्यहीँ जुत्ता खोल्यौं र भित्र पस्यांै। बैठककोठामा पुग्नेबित्तिकै हातमा चिया लिएर उनै महिला आइपुगिन्। गाउँघरकै आमा र काकीहरू मुस्कुराएझैं ओठ खोल्दै उनी बोलिन्, 'म विमला, लालबाबुजी आउँदै हुनुहुन्छ।' बल्ल थाहा भयो। लालबाबुकी पत्नी विमला उनै रहिछन्। मन्त्रिणी भईकन पनि उनले आफ्नो सामान्य जीवनशैली गुमाएकी रहिनछिन्। 'हामीलाई त गाउँघरमै आएजस्तो लाग्यो त?' हाम्रो प्रश्न सकिन नपाउँदै उनले भनिन्, 'हो त, हामी गाउँकै त हो नि।' उनीसँग सामान्य कुराकानी हुँदै गर्दा मन्त्री पण्डित कोठामा आइपुगे। विमला कसैसँग मोबाइलमा कुरा गर्दै थिइन्, फ्याट्टै ब्यालेन्स सकिएछ। कुरा नटुंगिदै फोन कट्यो। 'ए, मोबाइलको पैसै सकिएछ,' उनले हाँस्दै भनिन्। उनले यसोभन्दा फेरि गाउँघरका आमा–काकीहरूकै मोबाइल चलाउँदाको याद आयो । हामी अनौपचारिक कुराकै सिलसिलामा थियौं। 'बाबु, तपार्इंको गालामा लामखुट्टे बसेछ, भगाउनु त,' मन्त्री लालबाबुले कुर्सीबाट तन्किँदै भने। मैले हात हल्लाउँदै लामखुट्टे धपाएँ। 'धुप बाल्नुपर्ला जस्तो छ,' मन्त्रीले भने। 'हुन्छ, म ल्याउँछु' भन्दै विमला अर्को कोठातिर छिरिन्। एकछिनमा मच्छर–धूप जल्न थाल्यो। 'लालजोडी' आफ्नो कथा सुनाउन थाले। ... पार्टी कार्यालयमा होस् वा पाटीमा; साथीहरूले विवाहको कुरा झिकेर लालबाबुलाई जिस्काइरहन्थे। निकै करकाप गरेपछि उनले वीरगन्जमा बस्दै आएका दाजुलाई बिहेबारे कुरा चुहाए। उमेर झन्डै घर्किसकेको भाइले बिहेको कुरा गर्दा दाइले नमान्ने कुरै भएन। दुवै परिवारका सदस्यबीच कुरा चल्यो। तराईमा जन्मिएको युवक र पहाडमा जन्मिएकी युवतीको वैवाहिक सम्बन्धलाई दुवै परिवारले खुसीसाथ स्विकारे। वैशाखको सुरुमै टीकाटालो भयो। बिहेको साइत २०५९ जेठ २२ गते तोकियो। सर्लाही धनगढा–७ मा जन्मिएका लालबाबु त्यति बेला मोरङ जिल्लाका संासद थिए। विमला ०५४ सालको निर्वाचनमा भैंसीपाटी सैंबु–४ की वडा अध्यक्ष थिइन्। संसदमा दलहरूबीच खटपट थियो। मुुलुकमा राजनीतिक खिचातानी बढ्दै थियो। कांग्रेस–एमालेबीचको दुरी टाढाकै थियो। उनले पार्टीगत यो दुरी मेट्न बिहेलाई सेतुको रूपमा प्रयोग गर्न चाहे र सबै दलका नेतालाई आमन्त्रण गर्ने सोच बनाए। अचानक जेठको पहिलो साता संसद विघटन भयो। वैवाहिक समारोहमा दलका नेताहरूलाई मेलमिलाप गराउने उक्त योजना रोकियो। 'सबैलाई भेला गराउने योजना सफल नभएपछि पार्टीका साथीहरूलाई मात्र आमन्त्रण गरेँ,' उनी भन्छन्, 'त्यसपछि हाम्रो जनवादी विवाह भयो।' विवाहका लागि लालजोडीले पार्टी कार्यालय बल्खुको हललाई रोजे। तर, बल्खुमा वैवाहिक कार्यक्रम नगर्ने निर्णय भइसकेको रहेछ। उनले पार्टीका नेतालाई बल्खुमै बिहे गर्ने इच्छा जाहेर गरेपछि उनीहरू पनि खुसी नै भए। बल्खुमै बिहे कार्यक्रम तय भयो। संसद विघटन भएको र आम्दानी खासै धेरै नभएकाले कार्ड छाप्नसमेत समस्या परेको उनी सुनाउँछन् । 'निम्ता कार्डको लागि ए–फोर साइजको पेपरमा चारप्रति आउनेगरी प्रिन्ट गर्यौंे,' उनले भने, 'त्यही कागजको टुक्रालाई निम्तो पत्र बनाउँदै साथीभाइलाई बाँडेको सम्झना छ।' वैवाहिक भोज पनि भव्य गरेनन् उनले। चिया, बिस्कुट र केही समोसा। वैवाहिक कर्मका लागि पण्डित थिए, मोदनाथ प्रश्रित। प्रमुख अतिथि माधवकुमार नेपाल। भरतमोहन अधिकारीले स्वागत भाषण गरेका थिए भने महिलातर्फको जिम्मेवारी अष्टलक्ष्मी शाक्यले निर्वाह गरिन्। सुशीला नेपाललाई आगन्तुकको स्वागत गर्दैमा भ्याइनभ्याई थियो। 'करिब सात हजार खर्चमा हाम्रो विवाह सम्पन्न भएको हो,' सम्भि्कन्छन्, 'त्यहीँ सिन्दुर हाल्ने चलन नभएकाले कोटेश्वरस्थित डेरामा पुगेर आमालाई साक्षी राख्दै उनको सिउँदोमा सिन्दुर हालेँ।' 'मेरो घर–परिवार सबै पार्टी नै थियो,' लालबाबु भन्छन्, 'पार्टीले पनि अभिभावकको भूमिका निर्वाह गर्योर।' आफूहरूको विवाहलाई समाजले राम्रोसँग लिएको विमलाले बताइन्। लालबाबुकी आमा फूलकुमारीसँग विराटनगरमा सात महिना सँगै बसेकी उनी भन्छिन्, 'उहाँले छोरीजत्तिकै माया गर्नुभयो। कहिल्यै पनि फरक समुदायको मान्छेसँग बिहे गरेको अनुभूत भएन।' बाल्यकालमै आमा गुमाएकी विमलाका लागि सासूको माया अपार थियो। एउटी पहाडिया छोरीले तराईमा पाएको ठूलो खुसी। २०३१ सालमा टेस्ट परीक्षा दिएपछि लालबाबु एक्लै बस्दै आएका थिए। एसएलसीपछि थापाथली इन्जिनियरिङ कलेज पढे। बिस्तारै राजनीतिमा होमिए। विवाहपछि पनि उनले राजनीतिलाई महŒव दिन छाडेनन्। जीवनसाथी पनि एउटै पार्टीको भएपछि उनलाई अझ सजिलो भयो। २०६२/६३ को जनआन्दोलनमा जेल जाँदा पनि सँगै थिए। तर कहिलेकाहीँ परिवारलाई भन्दा राजनीतिलाई बढी महŒव दिने गरेको विमलाको गुनासो छ। एकपटक आफू बिरामी हँुदा श्रीमान्को व्यस्तताले साथ साथ नपाएको उनले सुनाइन्। पार्टी र मुलुकको लागि उनी यति व्यस्त भएछन् कि बिरामी श्रीमतीलाई छाडेर उनी राजधानी आए। ४६ दिनसम्म भेट्न नपाउँदा श्रीमती निकै दुःखी भएको उनी अहिले पनि सम्भि्कन्छन्। 'अब हामी सँगै छांै कि अलग्गियौं भनेर उनले विरामी आवाजमा फोन गर्दा निकै नरमाइलो लागेको थियो,' लालबाबु भावुक बन्छन्। सार्वजनिक हित र मुलुकबारे सोच्दा व्यक्तिगत पीडा गौण बन्ने उनको अनुभव छ। कर्ममा विश्वास गर्ने विमला लालबाबुजस्तो सरल पति पाउनुलाई भाग्यसँग जोड्छिन्। विवाहको केही समयअघिसम्म उनलाई लालबाबु ठिकैमात्र लाग्थ्यो। आफ्नो तुलनामा लालबाबुको उचाइ तथा शरीरको रङ केही नमिलेको जस्तो लाग्थ्यो, उनलाई। तर लालबाबुको सोचलाई बुझेपछि उनमा अब केही गुनासो छैन। 'शारीरिक उचाइका कारण केही असहज महसुस गरेको थिएँ,' उनले भनिन्, 'अहिले उहाँले प्राप्त गरेको 'उचाइ'को अगाडि म निकै होची भएकी छु।' डिभी र पिआरको लडाइँमा लालबाबुले जितेपछि त उनी झनै फुरुङ्ग छिन्। लालबाबुमा कुनै लोभ छैन। कुनै चिजमा आसक्ति राख्दैनन् उनी। 'खाना थप्न बिर्सियो भने, नमागी उठ्नुहुन्छ,' विमला सन्तुष्ट छिन्, 'यो मिठो यो नमिठो कहिल्यै भन्नुभएन।' उनले आफ्नो पतिको स्वास्थ्य र परिवारको सुखको लागि अन्य हिन्दु नारीले जस्तै साउनको व्रत पनि बसिन् । तीज पनि मनाउँछिन् तर भव्य होइन सामान्य रूपले। उनलाई झरिझुट्ट गहना लगाउने मोह पनि छैन। 'उहाँको बारे जति प्रशंसा सुनेको छु मेरो लागि ठूलो गर्व र गहना नै त्यही हो,' उनी खुसी हुँदै भन्छिन्। विवाहको दिन पानमा रहेको दियोको दुई बात्तीलाई बालेर एक–आपसमा जोडेको क्षण विमलाको सम्झनामा ताजै छ। 'परिवारले सल्काएको दुई भिन्नाभिन्नै ज्योतिलाई हामीले एक बनाएका थियौं। त्यही उज्यालेमा अहिलेसम्म रमाएका छौं,' उनी भन्छिन्। तराईका लालबाबु र पहाडकी विमलाका एक छोरी छिन्, अर्चना। उनी कक्षा १० मा पढ्दैछिन्। 'ऊ हामी दुवैसँग निकै रमाउँछे,' बाबुआमाको बीचमा बसेर फोटो खिच्दै गरेकी छोरीतर्फ हेर्दै विमलाले भनिन्, 'ऊ पनि बुबा घरमै भइरहे हुन्थ्यो भन्ने चाहन्छे।' विमला लालबाबुभन्दा निक्कै गोरी छिन्। तर, उनलाई लालबाबु आफूभन्दा निक्कै राम्रो लाग्छ। अनुहारको उज्यालोभन्दा पनि मनको उज्यालो महŒवपूर्ण हो भन्ने उनले बुझेकी छिन्। ... कुराकानी सकेर समाचारका तस्बिर खिच्ने क्रममा दुवैको तस्बिर लियौं। लालबाबुले क्यामेराको स्त्रि्कनमै फोटो नियाले। 'मेरो फोटो त कालोकालो पो आएछ, Here to protect us from various threats the world faces today, like terrorism. (1) This brings me to my next point, the recent disclosures have brought into question whether spying on citizens is really for the purpose of protecting citizens. The most common response from the NSA is that this type of surveillance was, and still is the best method for preventing any sort of terrorist attack. In the interview, Snowden mentions that mass surveillance has never prevented any terrorist attack. Some have speculated that Al-Qaeda was a creation of the CIA, and that the Bush family was close to the Bin-Laden family. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that this is the case, that these terrorist organizations are in fact the creation of the CIA. These links received worldwide attention, especially when the BBC chose to cover it. (2) Terrorist organizations have received funding from the CIA. The CIA/Al-Qaeda controversy is not the only evidence to support manufactured terrorism, 9/11 is the biggest example. More people are starting to see through the veil that has been blinding us all for years. Events like 9/11 and “terrorism” are constantly used as justification for an increased need for ‘national security,’ and as an excuse to invade other countries for natural resources and more. “There is a very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. We need to question the world’s constant direction towards increasing security based on fabricated “attacks.” What’s the real reason these intelligence agencies are keeping an eye on us? One example could be free energy, if you have a working device you cannot mention it in an email or speak about it on the phone without someone checking in on you. Something like that threatens the entire energy industry (oil). I truly believe that the mass surveillance program is not for our protection. For us to assume and actually believe that intelligence agencies are working to protect us is a dangerous thing to believe. It’s time to wake up, ask questions and stop condemning other possibilities and explanations than the ones presented to us on TV. Surveillance is not for our protection, it is for theirs, and it’s for anything that threatens the system they have worked so hard to maintain.
