Background information: Eligible for TPS: Yes (was present in the U.S. before the earthquake) Visa status: F-2 (F-1 did not apply for TPS) September 2015: Applied for TPS and EAD at the same time October 2015: EAD approved, TPS still pending March 2016: Only F-2 Went to Nepal (TPS still pending, did not apply for AP) July 2016: F-1 (still in the U.S.) got letter from USCIS - said TPS application incomplete and gave 90 days to complete October 2016: F-2 returned back to the U.S. (no problem at the port of entry) October 2016: Responded back to USCIS with complete application past the 90-day deadline they gave November 2016: TPS approved
I wasn't hoping for my TPS to be approved because of two reasons: 1. I went to Nepal for about 6 months without even applying for AP 2. I responded to the letter from USCIS past the 90-day deadline they gave But it still got approved. Now I am considering applying for the re-enrollment/extension but I'm hesitant because I feel like they might reject my application after looking at my I-94 records. What should I do? Second question: Can I apply for renewal of TPS only now and if that gets approved apply for EAD? That way, even if the application gets rejected, I'll lose only $85 instead of $465. Thanks in advance!

I think 90 days you are talking might be 90 working days, so you might have applied before the deadline. About TPS extension re-registration, you can apply without EAD first, and once TPS is approved, you can apply for TPS EAD. I assume that you went to Nepal based on F2 status since TPS was pending during that time. Yiou just have to spend $ 85.00 for biometric. Good Luck.

Dont you think the value of new EAD and TPS is more than just 465? You travelled before your status was accepted as TPS , so your travel would just be registered as a valid travel in F2.

Thank you for your input neerman and maxpayne. @maxpayne: I know the EAD that comes with TPS is definitely worth the application fee but I feel like there's a chance that they may not approve the renewal because of that trip I made to Nepal without AP. That's the only reason I wanted to apply just for TPS renewal first and if that goes well, apply for EAD afterwards.
