Today's Chatpat: September 15th, 2023

1. Today is Children's Day here in Nepal. Our PM has vowed to protect the rights of the children but it seems that the government is more focused on milking the budget meant for education and healthcare and only think about their own children, whom mostly seem to be all over the world. The ones here seem to be entangled in shady business deals with Chinese businessmen, contractors and con artists.

2. Japan's PM has added five women to his cabinet to see if he can keep the government running. Maybe, an all -women cabinet would do wonders in Japan and also here in Nepal as well. Even though, we have the 33% rule here in Nepal, women rarely get the opportunities to lead ministries or parliamentary committees unless you are a spouse of a former Prime Minister or related to politicians and civil servants.

3.Our PM, Prachanda is leaving for New York on Saturday. He will be there to enjoy his Amriki vacation with his daughter and near and dear ones. He will also stop by Beijing and have some dim sum with Xi on his way back in ten days. I think our politicians just want to enjoy the free perks and make sure that their children have enough cash to fund a luxurious lifestyle for another hundred years.

4. As usual, we keep on importing daily essentials and our government is importing 20,000 tons of sugar because they want to prevent price hikes but the reality is that the businessmen will make tons of profits while consumers as usual will have to deal with rising food prices every year.

5. Ed Sheeran wants you to direct his next music video. I don't know how he is going to select the winners but he says that he will give the opportunity to 14 people to direct music videos for his album. Check out his Instagram page for more details.The deadline is tomorrow, 1145pm Nepal Time.
