i just received this from a listserve....

We want someone in the States who is under 26 and has friends or family
>in Nepal that they haven't been able to get in touch with for some time
>(a few months to years) because of the Maoists. We plan on shooting
>footage of that person here, in the U.S., including a message to the
>friends and family member that they can't reach. We will then take that
>message to Nepal and try to find the friends or family members over
>there and deliver the video message. Along the way we will shoot
>footage and do research that will help us to tell the story of the conflict to our viewers.
>
>
>We are flexible on a few things: The young person in America does not
>have to be Nepali (although I think it would be better) they could also
>be a peace corps volunteer or someone who has spent significant time
>there and made many contacts. It's fine if the young person in the U.S.
>has had some contact with these hard to reach family & friends in
>Nepal. For example, maybe they've had intermittent contact and would
>like to send an object of importance that they haven't been able to get
>to their friends or family in Nepal because the mail service is not at
>all reliable in the part of the country occupied by the Maoists. In
>addition to a video message, we would like to entertain the idea of
>bringing some sort of object that has meaning to the family or friends
>in Nepal. I know that Nepalis are being conscripted into the Maoist
>army. We would also be interested in telling that story.
>
>The ideal candidate will be passionate about telling his/her story and
>under 26. If you know anyone who fits this description, please give
>them my contact information and tell them to send me a brief (a few
>paragraphs) description of their story and a photo (jpeg format is
>best). Any photo will do, its just helpful for us to be able to put a face to the name.
>
>Thank you again for all your help. I look forward to hearing from you.

ani izen, if you are interested in this, maybe it's still worth contacting them for more info. the worst that could happen is they say you are too old! (;-D)

i had lived in chirtungdhara vdc. between bartung and aryabhanjyang, alikati east from tansen. but palpa is also my favorite destination- it's sooo beautiful and the majority of palpalis are so incredibly warm and friendly and super ramailo! palpa has such a strong history and it is such a unique part of nepal- dhaka, karuwas, coffee, newar windows.... an amazing and magical place indeed!

of course i know that place. as soon as you leave butwal and the noise and pollution and chaos of tarai bazaars behind, and the road slowly starts to climb, the air becomes cool and fresh, and the land becomes beautiful, ani then the mandir is on your right side, and then, the big "WELCOME TO PALPA" sign!!! when i see that sign, i feel like i am home.... i was just back this summer, in july! it was like a dream.

iZen, I know where Sidha Baba ko Mandir.. Its fascinating.. I have been there plenty of times.. Last when I went there I was 10 years ago.. I walked against harsh and chilling wind early at 4 'o clock in the morning from Butwal chowk... And Tinau? Its my favorite river.. Dont know how she looks like now.. But I always used to compare with Dhobi Khola and Bagmati, felt so sorry from them ...

I used to be from Butwal though I was not born there - my dad settled there for his heck of business. I grew up there until I was in grade 5 than I moved back to KTM.. But I used to visit back there quit often..

Have you been to those temple in the top of Gurung Dada and another one just by the side (I forgot that Dada name) ? Those were exotic..

How long you have been there iZen?

Like I said I am from Bhirahawa.I have always been in love with nature. And that location was the closest I got to.You don't have pahads in BHW.Tinau i would say for its cleanliness...the one running cross the mandir.Sometimes I think it will be my first place to visit when I go home.
keep r...

Actually Mahisaure opinion was "whoever lives in USA doesn't need to look a MTV channel to send his/her MSG. 1st of all, if a Nepali can't contact to his family over the phone or mail because of the location (remote or Maoist's destruction), MTV can't expand it satellite either. Very clear! and my MSG to MTV guy, pls don't miscalculate by looking people's age(over or under'26'). Whomever comes under 26 yrs of age to the USA is smart enough as over 26 yrs old one.
by the way I am from BWA too
