2nd NRN conference in Kathmandu from Oct 7

The Non-resident Nepalis Association (NNA) is set organise its second international conference in Kathmandu from 7th to 9th October this year.

Talking to Nepalnews, Dr Hemant Dawadi, Executive Director of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), which is coordinating the conference, said, ?Preparations for the second conference are almost over, works on invitations and registration are nearly complete and now we are finalising the programs for the conference."

He further added, ?The main purpose behind organising such a conference is to facilitate participation of NRNs in the social and economic development of Nepal by investing not only the money but also their skills and knowledge".

The upcoming conference will primarily focus on the issues of Nepali workers in foreign countries -- how to enhance their skills in order to involve them in higher economic activities and enable them to contribute in the overall development of the country, Dawadi further said.

For this year?s conference, various program topics which include education and issues of youth and women have been finalised. ?Our motive is to develop a kind of network between NRN youths and Nepali youths. Similarly, in our view, the investment of NRNs? expertise in the development of Nepal?s education sector is equally important so we will put forth our proposals to link Nepali education institutions with foreign education institutions."
Over 400 NRNs from around the world are expected to participate in the conference. As far as Nepali representatives are concerned, Dawadi said, the organisers are trying to reduce the participation of Nepali representatives almost by the half than that of the first NRN conference. Their number will be around 150.

The inauguration ceremony and the next day?s session will be held at Birendra International Convention Centre (BICC) at Baneshwor while rest of the programs will be conducted at Haytt Regency Hotel.

The first NRN conference was held in October 2003 in Kathmandu in which 200 NRNs and some 300 Nepali representatives had participated. nepalnews.com Neetu Dubey Oct 03 05

Why is it easier to beg for Nepalese people..why don't they have programs to contribute..like providing scholarship for all students to study abroad..then they can call back for return and investment..

One should dictate to Nepalese back home to stop begging and start being selfreliant.and if you can't do that just live and die an honorable death....jesus..we already have sucked up some much out of the world..how much debt do you guys wanna add on tto that??And on top of that the debt money goes straight into buying limos and harleys for "bane of the societies" Shameless Suckkkkkkkkkkkkkkrers!!!!

Anyways..its all voluntary...but i think the more support you provide to some people..the more spoilt and dependent they become...sometimes its better to leave people stranded and let them walk the hard way..

If I can do it why can't all of them?? I don't see any problem...I'd love to see some people get down to the streets and start cleaning up the mess they left....soemtimes the only way you can achieve it is dictating...HAIL Fascism back to Nepal...all neps deserve it now!!!!

timi kina tyesto negative huh hushpuppy? in a way, you can think of the NRN's donating their time, money and expertise as the return on investment. besides, these NRN's are also nepalese. what's wrong with fellow nepalese giving back to the land they came from.

and these nrn's should be treated as equals, if not first class citizens. look at the indians. the indian (and chinese) nrn's get a warm reception whenever they go back to india (china), and have played a huge role in india's current development. we need to treat nrn's the same, rather than trying to figure out ways to make life difficult for them. i am sure the sachivs in hmg are currently brainstorming ways to get as much personal benefit from this as possible, while making it hard for the nrns.
