I was going through one string about number of countries in the future and the world map, but has any one thought about what our own NEPAL would do (...contribute) to this ever changing world Atlas? If not in the near future but definitely down the line some where at some point of time.

Here's how?!

See, there's a very bloody and violent deadlock- political scenario in current Nepal, very uncomfortable to us Nepalese and the entire international communities. Well who cares about Nepalese anyways- that leaves us with just the almighty International Community.
International Communities alias: US and India. Rest of the countries don?t even come as slightly close enough to be counted as far as the Nepalese political "agendas" are considered. Not even China-no sir, no no!!

US- because its the "World Police" and of course any to-be-successful communist movement very likely to be in Nepal, as clearly seen from anybody's stand point of view at the moment, if not very gravely but would certainly keep US worried. India-because it is the only country that would be directly affected by the outcome of this conflict. Alarms have already set off as naxalite movement is starting to gain grounds in many Indian states, especially in the ones bordering Nepal. Things have certainly gone haywire in New Delhi after the Naxalite attack in Madhuban, Bihar after which many reports surfaced that there was close similarity between this and the maoist raids in Nepal.

Fueling this paranoia is King Gyanendra?s ?Raaj-Hath? not to reconcile with the political parties (we Nepalese all know-who and what they are and we have seen them all) but still to the outside world they are (within quotes) ?The Democratic Forces?-HA! but anyways like I said its not us Nepalese that counts but the International Community. Everybody knows RNA alone is incapable of controlling the insurgency that too without any outside help. And outside help-none, as long as King Gyanendra continues his wish to remain the Supreme head of the country. The political dilemma continues with only beneficiary of the situation being the Maoists.

Well those were the FACTS now how about little FICTION:

Say Maoists grow stronger and stronger with the possibility of the King?s Army to control them fading away day by day. US gets irate, and since it is fighting its own war on terrorism, reluctant to deliver tremendous amount of its resources into Nepal to tackle mere Nepalese Maoists, asks India to control the situation which of course could be a very fact than an absolute fiction. Well India prompt on the situation, is on its way to sikkimize Nepal. (I am not the only person who believes that India wants to sikkimize Nepal-one major reason being that from India?s point of view it would have a better control over the region with one less independent country to deal with.) Until now it was a balance of India?s desire to sikkimize Nepal and its fear of the international community, especially US and the UN in doing so. After getting a Green Signal, India needs no more, I am not saying that as soon as it gets a ?go? it will run up to Katmandu and have its ?Tiranga? fluttered on top of Dharahara, but the process would be slow. The same international community, the US and the UN would have dissented strongly against sikkimization of Nepal would be more that happy to see the raising communists and a to-be menace of the world being crushed. Nobody to oppose India, Nepal in so many years would be another State of India. Besides us Nepalese in broader sense is not very different from Indians, our culture, our religion, our social structures, even our language is so similar to that of the Indians.

See my dear Gorkhe Daju-Bhais, us Nepalese who were born and associated with independent Nepal are enraged by this thought. I and obviously you all are so proud to be a Nepali because that is our signature identity, even though we are similar to Indians in many respects I detest the idea of being an Indian-no hard feelings to any Indian friends who reads this ( even if wildly possible), but its that thing called patriotism. But my dear Gorkhe Daju-Bhais, the patriotism remains only if there is a country and would matter to only us-if Nepal would one day be a part of India, our children and our grand children would not even care and it won?t even bother them to say Mera Bharat Mahan, because they were born in Nepal not a country but an Indian State. By then the last of us Nepalese born in independent Nepal would have perished with us taking away fore ever the identity called Nepali from this world- that?s how there will be one minus country in this world to count- and that?s exactly what all of us Gorkhe Daju-Bhais should be aware of, that this conflict is not about being Royalists or the Maoists or the Democratists. Here?s our identity at stake and I wish people there in Nepal could see this coming-which obviously they can?t!!! Shree Pashupatinath Mero Nepal ko Rakshya Gara!!

And the only people we would or should be cursing or blaming is over selves. We would have shot ourselves on our feet.

But I wonder if that is going to be an easy task for India even though I do believe that it is one of their favorite ones.
I would presume that there will be more internal war against the Indian authority present in Nepal. We could even have suicide bombers. Or we could have another revolution to thrown away Indian authority just like many countries had during the colonial times.

Or may be our children and grand-children will just be fine being Indians. Just like the Nepalese in Darjeeling and Sikkim who now are just fine to be called Indians.

Either way, we are screwed. If Babu Ram and Prachanda are not already on Indian payroll they should give a thought to this situation. And Gyane and political parties included should stop the struggle for power and start to think about the country for once. Or else to get a head start we may have to start leaning ?Jana Gana Mana, Adhiniyak Jai Ho.?

I very much agree with you Hurray, for atleast once people should think about the country, if not- like you said we may start learning 'janagana managana'. Practicing this, I guess will atleast keep us prepared for the whole thing and its going be much more less shattering shocking on our part. Anyways our children and grandchildren would be singing that 'SHAAN KO SAATH'

Well!Well!Well!!..
That's the most un-patriotic thought you allow in your mind...our attitude towards India since Ranas were overthrown in the 1950 has never changed...
But why do we have to allow Indians to interfere in our internal political matters...well we think we are not capable enough to rule ourselves..give me a break..just because Indians are powerful...and they are the biggest democracy in the world...and how about our slave mentality towards Indians or whoever powerful...that because of our geographical location it is very important for us to kiss their rear-end and give birth to these misleading thoughts...
How about Cuba?Well fine its a communist country...and America is their neighbor like we are to Indians but do the Americans have guts to invade Cuba..NO!!why at least Cubans love their country...despite the totalitarian regime of Castro..
Our so-called democratic leaders because they lack patriotism they look southward...our king who is still 15th century in his mind..and the maoists...the result of the failures of both the democratic leaders and brutal crown..
Its all about dignity...if you are taught to love power...king as god..and short-cut in life...if you are taught we are either slave or the master..and not your neighbors and your own dignity..then its obvious you start visualizing yourself with "jana gana mana"
When you don't love your country and peace...forget India..even Bhutan can be suspicious....

Izen, bro, What should I start to say with? The problem lies right here. Jumping to conclusions without understanding things. Or should I say without even trying to look for viable reason that is already there. The same mentality that fuelled Hritik Kanda. This is the exact mentality I am worried about us Nepalese. The thing is that Me and Hurray in the later part of this thread were just being sarcastic of our own mentality. And I agree to what you have to say, why should us small country bow to the bigger neighbours and I am totally against it. So much for what you think about our fallen-out-patriotism. My sincere request, please, only act, say or conclude after having enough reasons with you, for example- in this case try and read the the very first article on this thread, and comment on what me and hurray has to say in the later part.

We, a bunch of people, having good life, losing sleep, worry that my country will fall into India's big hand and then i'll be considered as 2nd class citizen. On the other hand, we're trying hard 2 get american citizenship (n' lose nepali citizenship coz' nepal doesn't accept dual citizenship). More than 40% of nepalese are below poverty line n' spend most of their life worrying abt food, clothe n' shelter, spend most of their life ending up being BAHADUR or Gate Guard in India or somewhere in middle east dying in hot sun. What do they need first? What'll I do serious if I'm given the choice of living in a poorest country worrying abt getting even one meal a day with my BRAVE RICH RED PATRIOTIC FLAG or' giving up my flag n' living propserously? Why am I so patriotic n' go 2 chose ending up being poorest for rest of my life?

I'm aware that giving up to India can never be a solution as we may get into more misery as they already have millions or billions or problem. But I just wanna point out may be we' think wrong. May be we're not not even touching the main issue. May be we don't know what is the main cause of our misery. I'd posted in history discussions n' everyone seem 2 get disagreed. I just have 2 say one phrase I learned from movie this week. It says something like this 'HISTORY UNKNOWN IS THE HISTORY REPEATED'. I believe that we're repeating bad stories of history in our country coz' most people are still ignorant of it.
