Hom Bahadur Khadka, having scored 65 percent in first year, is preparing hard for his ISc second year exams in April even though he might not live long enough to sit for them. He wanted to be an engineer but now, he's dancing for all he's worth, even with just one leg. Doctors told Hom that he has only two months to live so now, he's living life to the fullest.

Two years ago, when his left leg started hurting him, Hom went to see a doctor. A biopsy revealed cancer in the upper tibia fibula but he wasn't told. It was first stage cancer and the chances of it spreading were high. Hom was put on chemotherapy. Says Hom, "Only then did I know because I knew what chemotherapy was for." The pain returned after some months. This time the doctors at Bharatpur Cancer Hospital recommended that he amputate his left leg. Adds Hom, "They said the cancer could spread to my lungs and it did." Now, they've told him he has only two months to live.

Hom isn't one to spend his remaining days feeling sorry for himself. Initially, when he started using a crutch, he was embarrassed because he didn't want to be called 'disabled'. "I put on studs and let my hair grow so I would look like other guys," he says. But he's more than any ordinary guy, he's been holding charity dances to support others. Recently, he donated all the money raised from his show to Gupta Devi Mainali, a heart patient. At his show in Nepal Tourism Board on (DATE), Hom danced to remix songs for eight whole minutes. "I get easily exhausted so we choreograph easy steps," says Hom. Roma Neupane, who dances with him, lost her leg in an accident eight years ago. She's happy to have a dance partner as committed as Hom but sadly adds, "even though we know we'll die any day."

Hom however has unbeatable enthusiasm. Says he: "We live to be happy. God creates destiny. I want to help others until I die, prove that we are not physically challenged just differently-abled."
