A man is facing possible execution in Afganistan for converting to Christianity. "The Prophet Muhammad has said several times that those who convert from Islam should be killed if they refuse to come back," says Ansarullah Mawlafizada, the trial judge. writes BBC Not only the judge but majority of Afgans also seem to demand his death as outlined in the following para from BBC which writes: But the bigger problem confronting the president is that an overwhelming number of ordinary Afghans appear to believe Mr Rahman has erred and deserves to be executed. Though the Taliban has been defeated, Taliban mentality seems to prevail in Afganistan. I was sickened by the news though and hope the guy gets to live a normal life. - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4841334.stm

Why domocratic muslim countries are not saying anything abut this? Why does it have to be only pope or western countries? If they can't let him live, they better banish him. He will find an assylum.

Yap. Read it on bbc 2. As far I am concern, islam is one of the most intolerent relgion that I know of. It does not allow anyone to convert to other faith. Also one has to convert to islam if one marries someone who practices this faith. Call me anything, people, but I sure find it the most intolerant and backward religion in the world !!!

KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan court on Sunday dismissed a case against a man who converted from Islam to Christianity because of a lack of evidence and he will be released soon, officials said.

i_nepali i cannot disagree with you anymore. islam is NOT NOT NOT an intolerante religion. it is extreme fundamentalists who have abused and misunderstood tehir religion, for their passions' sake and for their personal benefits. no eligion in teh world gives out wrong messages or teaches intolerance. if we are talking abotu islam, we cannot be ethnocentric. our views are shaped and are continously influenced by the WESTERN media. we shoud always keep this in mind.

I am sure Nepalis have more religious tolerance than in Muslim countries. Nepalis have lived more in harmony in terms of religion for ages even by the comparision of India. Missionaries are working with so much of freedom in Nepal. Just ask any missionary there, they would say except for Moaist voilence Nepal is a great country to be a missionary after 1990. There are other discriminations like castes and craps but communal fight in the name of religion can not be one of those.

I agre with the last statement from Arko regarding missionaries. But Nepalese in general suffer from extreme superiorty complex similar to Taliban mentality. They got bombed somebody will come and bomb nepalese as well to bring them to terms with reality. Actually nepalese are boming each other already so there you go.

The bible Belt Christians are NOT any different. Like Pat Robertson taking a Fatwa on HUgo Chavez. Minneapolis and Chicago Born Agains feeling threatned by construction of Mosques and Buddhist Temples. DO YOU THINK THAT THE RIGHT WING CHRISTIANS ARE GOING TO SIT AND WATCH IF MUSLIMS CAME TO EVERY CITY(like they do in Middle east and Asian countries) AND STARTED CONVERTING EVERYONE INTO CHRISTIANITY ? I think a lot of countries are hostile to missioneries coming to covert their citizens because of history. Because the Brits, The Portugese, and the Spainiards came as missioneries and took over the country. Before you start accusing Muslim countries you have to get a sense of where they are coming from. I agree that they are intolerant but what caused that distrust and intolerance ?

I agree with Bathroomcoffee on his opinion about Bible Belt christians fanatics. And also I wonder why christians need to send missionaries to convert people of other religions. Why can't they tolerate other religion? While they go all over the world committing cultural genocide, they complain about other religions being intolerate if christianity is opposed.
