That's the only way they make their living...looting banks, burning vehicles, terrorizing the locale...and what not else....SPA should do something about it...if not...its all "Hatti aayo, Hatti aayo, FUSSA"....Old wine, in old bottle, or we might get same wine in new bottle....ain't gonna change a thing !

I liked this article by Kanak Mani Dixit but I think some thing is missing in this...

- King should be held house arrest in Nirmal Niwas

I thinking making nation without a head is not good idea. So I thing until the CA election happens and people's verdict comes out. King should be kept as a king at Narayanhiti, but with all political and army powers stripped. He should be held in Narayanhiti allowing for ceremonial functions only.

- Change palace staffs and guards

Remove all palace staffs and guards appointed by King himself. Parliament and new government should assing new Palace staffs and new guards. To avoid any chance of another attempt of political or forceful coup by King

- Control of Security forces should be transfered under parliament and new government

Remove King and all other royal family's from every post of security forces. Bring military and police and AFP under control of parliament and to be mobilized only by security council comprising of PM, House Speaker, Defence minister, home minister, leaders of opposition parties

- Maoist should be compelled to declare ceasefire, Army should be limited to 5 KM during the duration of talk.

- Maoist should be disarmed, Army should be moved back to barrack, for free and fair CA election.

- After election maoist army and RNA should be combined and down sized.

- Remaining after he CA election result, verdict of people

If maoist want political safe landing this is their best and final chance. They should use it wisely. They have already realize there is no military solution to this war. Only political solution is the available option. So they have to give up violence.

Who and what will compell the Maoist to declare ceasefire ?

In the matter of who...Can RNA or SPA or Gyane or the combination of all three compell the Maoists to declare ceasefire ?

It would have been possible to compell the Maoists to declare ceasefire if the Maoists were in mercy of RNA or SPA or Gyane. Since the Maoists are not dependent on RNA or SPA or Gyane to continue towards their ultimate goal it is kinda absurd to expect them to declare ceasefire. However they can declare ceasefire for one reason. That is, when they feel it is time to re-arm and recruit more people into thier revolutionary army.

How do you disarm the Maoist ?

One way to disarm the Maoists is by gaining total control and superiority over the Maoists which is not the present reality and is unlikely to happen in the foreseeable future. Neither RNA nor the SPA has the ability at the present.

Will the Maoists join RNA to make a unified armed forces of the country.

Absolutely, in fact one of the demands of Maoists during the last peace-talks was the
creation of armed forces from the Maoist battalions. Do you know why ?
Once the Maoist cadres are in RNA, the Maoist can create HUNGAAMA, CHAOS and BHAAD BHAILOO in RNA. Have you ever heard the phrase "killing form inside out". Once the RNA is in shambles...practically there will be nothing left in thier way to achieve their military (and political) goals.

Do not be afraid of the change. Try to adopt to the change and get most out of it.

May be combining maoist army will provide us some for good fighters. And better structured army

Maobadis are so used to looting and access to free food and money, I doubt if they will ever give that up.... even if the maoist come to the mainstream politics , we will still face violence , looting and killings in Nepal.. where would all those hundreds of young militants go? how will they earn their living? will they be enlightened overnight and give up their guns? the leaders might get some positions up in Singha Durbar after which these militants will simply be the forgotten heroes of the maoist.

the Maoists declared ceasefire..lets expect the Maoists to start the next wave of mass recruitment and stockpiling of fresh arms and ammo from India and Bangladesh for the next phase of war.

The Maoist goal does not end with the creation of CA and the dethorining of Gyane.
It ends with the complete power grab by whatever military and political strategy and tactics possible.

We don't need arms in Nepal. Arms for what? fighting against each other? RNA and MB army must be fully disarmed and Nepal should agin be declared a shanti chhetra.

I kinda side with Khaobaadi on this one...

Maoists declare cease-fire...yeah right for 3 months.....Coz 3 months is enough for them to re-organize, recruit, replenish their stockpiles of weapons, and start a fresh new war after 3 months...

If they really wanna give up violence, why not say cease-fire forever...we will join mainstream politics...what's holding them back? The king? The SPA? or the fear within themselves..that they will be so discarded by the populous for what they have been doing for 12-13 years???

On lighter note you forgot to add Sri Lanka on the list. After LTTE started their war again so they can co-train. I think there is going to be a conference in Colombo where Dr. Baburam is presenting paper on "How to do politcial safe landing after 10 years and 13000 lives". This paper is co-authored by Pachanda. Chair of the conference is Prabhakaran

Yes entire nepal should be disarmed. No more killling of human, only khasi -boka rango are allowed. After mo:mo ta khanu paryo ni.
