Maoist dialogue team members main speakers of Kathmandu 2 June rally
Kathmandu, 30 May: Talks team coordinator Krishna Bahadur Mahara, and members Deb Gurung and Dinanath Sharma will be the main speakers at a Maoist rally in the capital Open Air Theater 2 June, party mouthpiece Janadesh said Tuesday.

A previous announcement said Chairman Prachanda would surface at the rally.

Five thousand volunteers and 200 health workers have been mobilized for the meeting, the newspaper said.

Efforts underway for broad republican front

Kathmandu, 30 May: A meeting of the joint revolutionary people's council Nepal and the preparatory committee of the broad national political conference have ended a meeting, Janadesh reports.

"Hand-over all rule to the broad democratic political conference," the meeting concluded.

Coordinator of the conference Dr Baburam Bhattarai chaired the meeting in the presence of Chairman Prachanda.

The meeting concluded the conference should discuss future state structure and the establishment of a republic.

Bhattarai issued a statement demanding immediate election for a constituent assembly.

He called for the dissolution of parliament, constitution and government.

He demanded an interim organization reflecting the reality, interim constitution and an interim government.

Bhattarai called for a broad front of political parties, ethnic groups and regions.

Bhattarai, Deb Gurung and Khimlal Debkota have been entrusted central responsibilities for the conference.

Republican fronts can be formed in autonomous republics.
