Pictures are really great! Heartily thankful to the contributor.

Wasn't Rana Bahadur Shah crowned as the king when he was two/three years old. Wish I had my "Itihaas Kitaab".

TestDirector,
Can I correct you here?I dunno how correct it is..But his(Rana Bahadur Shah) wife was a Brahmin from India..She was a widow not a Monk. She was Indian Brahmin..Present day Jhas, Mishras in ktm , Bhakatapur & Patan are the descendants of Queen's relatives who further settled down in Nepal. They still maintain a close connection with India & they are .
And Captain Deepak Bikram Shah is NOT King Birendra's son..King Birendra never had any secret liasion..Yeah, he did have few crushes and attractions before marriage mainly with two gals..afterall he was a HUMAN..one is Newar(she never got married, they were really great friends) and the other Thakuri(She married a closed associate/relative of the King) whose daughter later married the king's nephew ...
can't say anything of the first one? But the later information is 110% correct.

Sayami, u got a TREASURE out there....do keep it properly..they r simply priceless...

Novemeber, Did u go to BPS?????

RamPrasadNeupane,Is it Balbhadra or Balbahadur????

Look at the list, 3 kings in a row, Rana bahadur, Girbanyuddha and Rajendra were all minors/infants when they started as a king. The widow queen mothers were regents at that time. This led to relationship between prime ministers and queen mothers, an eventually, janga bahadur's plan of 104 years of rule emerged.

After prithivi narayan and pratap singh, there were no solid kingship until tribhuwan's regaining of power on 2007 BS.

A weak monarchy led to destruction of the monarchy as a whole.

I wish, Shriuti's daughter's were declared the heir to the throne and Queenship started in Nepal. After all law on heir to the throne has always been discriminatory. Why should not shrutis daughter get the throne? Shrutui's husband has been declared a 'kumar' i.e. a prince.

About son of Birandra, I am not aware. But an elder brother of Birendra did exist until recent years. Rabindra Shah, he was Lyaite's son and thus not given king's position. It was also heard that he was mentally incompetent.

A national weekly covered his funeral, which was conducted in a lay-man way. No royals or royality nor members of palace were present re!

Okay, Late Rabindra Shah is the eldest son of King Mahendra. He was born from his Newar wife.He was married and he had issues(kids). He was not mentally incompetent..he was very creative and he was more into literature and poetry..He was a very soft person, very goodlooking, he was in fact Xerox copy of King Mahendra, but the sad thing was that he was chronic alcoholic, that destroyed him completely.
He was extremely private person and most of the time he shut himself inside his home...so he was already dead before his physical death..It was really a sad story of the charming Prince.

Cleopatra,
You are probably right. We are close on Rana Bahadur; she was in Pashupati as a Bhikchhu and a widow when Rana Bahadur picked her up. About King Birendra ... has a son from another woman.

Whatever I'm saying I heard from my relatives so I can accept your story... as anybody else's.

Funny thing is all these kings are randi ko chora haru!
Cheers!
Suman

RamPrasadNeupane,
The two little cutiepies are happy picking up dolls for their frens' b'day gift with their loving father, so it would be nice to keep them away from these kind of discussions.. let them grow up like ordinary gals..Nepal cannot afford another crazy CPs or kings!
let them have a normal childhood ,let them enjoy their Barbies & their Tweeties!
And am sorry I don't wanna discuss in any of these issues further......if u want u can carry on!.

The popular folklore we used to read in elementary book is "Paschhima Killa Kangara....". How come Kangara is not in the lost territory of Nepal (the map above)?
