OKay, the NY Sports thread is shrunk down to NY Knicks thread, as they are the only team playing in metro NY area (Rangers deliberately forgotten).

Knicks are 6 games below .500 and they have their last lost 2 games, but this year I am more hopeful than last 2 years. We are going in a right direction.

AX had commented earlier that Isiah Thomas is not good for Knicks (or something in that line).
I cannot say that Isiah is a good coach...yet..but he certainly has done things that look promising. I know, this is his third year and we still suck but let's see what he has done:

1. Traded the entire roster that he inherited. Don't forget, the sports pundits said the then knicks lineup (Layden era) was practically untradeable.

2. Made the roster younger with players full of promises: Lee, Frye, Robinson, Jefferey.

3. Has a very good draft record. He drafted Frye, Balkman, Lee, Robinson. In the past he has drafted Carter and the likes.

4. Knows the game. He was a point guard, a leader and knows all the playcalls.

5. He is patient with his decisions. He is not like Larry Bird who tweaked with the lineup so much that it resembled a muscial chair show that never ended. His patience also shows with his decision to stick to Jamal Crawford on ending minutes, despites the latter's several buzzer beater mistakes.

6. He is willing to reconsider his decisions. His bad picks, Jalen Rose, Butler etc weren't forced into the rotation just coz they were aquired. He has changed his game play styles time after time.

There are other intangible things that he brings. He was from the notorious bad boys team, he knows those tricks and traits. Knicks went on to win 5 out of 6 games (about) after the Nuggets-Knicks brawl that Isiah possibly ignited. It brought the team closer.

He is no Coach K or even Bird, but this team needs a guy like Isiah..not an accomplished coach.


Mark my words, Knicks will make the playoffs this year. They are 6 games out of .500 right now.
