Hi just wanted to hear your comment on my little speech for next week, what do you think, I am also talking about other problems like education and stuff, but Just want to comment on the political situation here in the west. I admit it needs lot of correction and polishing and may be re-writing, but this just a draft.
The conflicts:
After 10 years of conflict between Maoist rebels and the corrupt government of Nepal, the country has finally signed the peace treaty. This has of course stopped most of the fighting and killing in the nation. But it seems like some sources and forces are creating a conflict to free the southern part of Nepal known as “Tarai†region. This conflict is raising day-by-day claiming life of many peoples.
Even after signing the peace treaty, Nepali people does not seem to get a break; Why? Who is creating these conflicts, and for what reason. Why cannot the government solve these conflicts, what is stopping them?
Cast System In Nepal:
I was in a meeting about Nepal’s situation where Danish politician were talking about the Cast system in Nepal. I was very sad to hear about the way they were commenting on this matter and how they were trying to press Nepali government to illuminate cast system. As a Dane living here in the west I understood her thinking very well, But as I also know about Nepal and the so called cast system I could see that she knew nothing on what all these cast system was about.
Cast system in Nepal is one of the most venerable and dangerous points to discuss about. As Nepal is build up with so many different folk groups.
Nepal is the only country in the world with ethnic majorities with different religions, languages, races and custom. Every Nepali knows that cast system is a major problem in Nepal, Nepali people does not need foreign donors and social workers to tell them this.
Every well-educated Nepali citizen are aware of this problem and are against it, yet they also know how dangerous this discussion can be, It can split the whole Nepal, and lead Nepal at the same path as Iraq, and other middle east nations, where one group is killing the others. Just for an example, after the British divided the lands and left India, since then we can see the ongoing fight between Hindu and Muslim in Kashmir and in the most part of India.
This should not happen in Nepal, let the Nepali people them self solve this issue. Foreign donors and originations should not expect this problem to be solved over night.
Cast system should not be discussed as a cast problem but look at it as a social problem. The government should make a law that is same for all, and of human rights, and equal rights for all.
Foreign donors and originations shout stop putting oil in the fire. Today Tarai wants freedom, tomorrow-another groups want the same thing or the other thing, and as it continues, one-day Nepal will not exist in the world map. Therefore they should not put their hands on things they have no knowledge on.
