I got 15 mins before I leave for the week, so heres my timepass.enjoy:
Summer of 1991....democracy the big word of the day..me an awkward 15 yrs old..(ya I am up there in age kids)...one sided love with this girl that lived in makhan tole...or was it bange mudha...we shall say her name was preity(love that dhoti heronee)...she kinda looked like her...way out of my league...or maybe not....everyday after school I sped my 10 speed to get to rastriya nachghar, thats where she got off and walked a good 15 mins before she disappeared inside her purano ghar( you know, the one with the buigall upstairs)...followed her all the way..and maintained my distance..so much so that she did not even realize I was doing it for about 3 months...finally did...guess she felt sorry for me and my desperation...actually started looking for me and smiling my way when our eyes met..we went to the same school too by the way....was one grade below me..always was with her group of friends so following her home was the only time I could let her know it was only her that I was after....finally had the courage to give her a 'dashain' card....and a tihar card....all the while not having the courage to write what I really felt..just a wimpy 'wish you have a very happy ...crap'...valentine's day was finally the day when I could muster the courage...but I was scared to face her so made a friend give it to her. The rest is history.
They are now married and have three beautiful kids... I still go see them everytime I go to Nepal...I can guarantee you that they probably have a good laugh at my expense....but you know what, I would've probably not been able to go that far with her. He decided to stay back and take over his family business, but a lot had to do with him not wanting to leave her. Would I have done that? nah.
But I did ride that 10 speed everyday to see her and then all the way home everyday...only to repeat the process the next day....and do it for almost a yr...I guess I was in love folks.
