NDA steps up activities, bombs Congress leader's house:
Nepal Defense Army is Hindu Extermist like Shiva Sena India.
The organisation known as Nepal Defense Army (NDA) – which is pressing for the restoration of Hindu state – has stepped up its violent activities in Terai region.
A day after it owned up responsibility for having hurled bomb at Kantipur's regional office in Biratnagar, a whisky factory in Tankisinwari and UML office in Parsa, the NDA has exploded a bomb at the residence of Nepali Congress MP Ashok Koirala in Morang district.
The bomb was exploded at the gate of Koirala's residence in Madhumalla of Biratnagar sub-metropolitan on Tuesday evening.
Although there was a loud explosion, there were no casualties or big damages. At the site of explosion, pamphlets were found in which the NDA has put forth 24-point demands including restoration of Hindu state.
Meanwhile, Kantipur daily has reported that NDA is operated by Indian elements supporting Hindu state in Nepal. The daily has reported that main organiser of NDA is Baba Sanjaya Nath – a priest at Kali Temple in the border town of Raxaul. The NDA workers are found to actively take part in rallies organised to protest secularism in Nepal, it said. The daily has reported that Birgunj-based people who had association with Panchayat politics in the past are close with the Baba.
The daily has also reported that the socket bomb hurled at its regional office in Biratnagar was very powerful. "Although it is merely a socket bomb, it was quite a powerful one," said Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force Suman Adhikari whose team had diffused it. The team informed that had the bomb exploded it could have destroyed the office.
In another development, police have seized a huge cache of explosives and arrested two persons who were trying to smuggle them into Nepal from India. Jaya Prasad Chaulagain and Shiva Lal Shahi were arrested from near the Indo-Nepal border in Banke on Tuesday. Police seized 101 pieces of gelatin, 199 pieces of detonator (cap) and 10 meter fuse-wire from their possession.
