Depends on your experience in photography and how far you are willing to push it.
I will go for the Nikon cuz it is a one of the two pro choices (Canon).

Say one wants to buy a camera like slim and really small to fit in one's purse, what would you recommend? Price range 200 to 250 including everything. Doesn't have to be under water, a simple point and shoot will do. Mega pixel 4 and a video is a plus. LCD screen helps. Any suggestions?

If one is buying DSLR, then I would strongly recommend going for either the Nikon or Canon.
Meera, go for Fujifilm F series -they are the best camera with non-existant noise. If you would like to find out more about the cameras which suits your needs and affordability, please got : www.dpreview.com.

raazstone, you can go to photography forum and ask and the opnion of the user. Here is one which I am a member of : www.forum.clubsnap.org.
Regarding the size of the camera, I have never been fan of slim camera. Just think about the battery life and camera shake. You might say the image stabilisation can compensate the hand movement but how effective is the image stabilisation. Mind you some of the product are merely pushing thier ISO, so don't be surprised with grainy picture.
