The new NY Governor, David Paterson, and his spouse also separate extra marital affairs before they ended them and strengthened their marriage via counseling. This is an honest and audacious acknowledgment on the part of the man who was reportedly very close to ill-fated Spitzer.
(Spitzer, who won the NY Governorship with a historic 69% vote tells something about how popular he was with the public. Dubbed the "Sheriff of Wall Street" while serving as NY AG, he was a blessing to the investors and wall street professionals who played by the rules.)
Peterson's admission of his own extra-marital affair shows his loyalty to Spitzer. It's a way of saying a lot of public officials have such kind of affairs going on just like normal human beings. Remember, during President Clinton's impeachment for lying under oath about Monica Lewinsky connection, Larry Flynt (of the Hustler managine fame) had a list of Capital Hill officials who were themselves involved in prostitution and the most funny part was some had even paid using credit card.

Getting back to the point, for this candid admission, this new Governor deserves a standing ovation from everyone, even from the persons who are bounded on wheel-chairs.
