I am taking wireless modem router Dlink G604T/UK and Belkin  ADSL Modem G Router (5fd7632-4) to Nepal. I have used these routers for years but there is not any scratch and still have the orginal box. I want to donate these router to my high school to enable wifi so student and teachers so they can access internet for free from their computer. I know there is very less student and teacher have knowledge of computer and internet.
Here I  want to find out  custom people's reaction about router, if you guys try to take to Nepal.

Further more do you guys know, whether above listed wireless modem router will work on NTC 64kbps broadband, without upgrading firmware.

I actually did install wireless router in one school.....

It would be better if you can take as many wireless cards with your routers.... i've no idea how much it cost right now in Nepal but it was pretty expensive then the router itself.... But I wouldn't suggest you taking any electronics gadgets beside laptops and apple's products.... You can get anything you want and of the lastest....

For you second question...... It might wight .......but I think NTC will give you for free...

Thanks for reply guys.
I have few wireless card and adapter as well .These modem router are free (actually Belkin i think i paid 13 pound) from broadband provider . So instead of selling on ebay i want to something there. These router were damn expensive in kathmandu when I used to work as a technician few years back.I will sort out the firm upgrade if i can pass through custom. Thats all making me worry.

Its really nice you're thinking about your old school.  You might still want to consider selling those things off in ebay (if that's possible) and buying something new in the Nepal market.  There are a wide variety of cheaper substitutes from Taiwan, China and Malaysia, and all of them work.  The prices start around USD 50, a small price to pay for a new generation of children aspiring to connect with the world:-)

Cheers, SB

Estimated price of routers in KTM
  • Planet Wireless Router  Rs. 3500
  • Lantech Wireless Router Rs. 4000
  • D-Link Wireless Router Rs. 8500
