Dear Nepali brothers and sisters fellow countrymen:

You are all aware that Nepal is in a process of remaking itself. Our CA members are touring the nation to gather public opinion, recommendation, and suggestions to shape the new constitution. I write columns for my community daily newspaper, so I had an opportunity to witness one of such events yesterday (March 21). I was skeptical before I went, but after seeing the enthusiasm and opinion of the team leader Amik Sherchan, I am quite positive, that new constitution is going to be different and that there are people who really care. But that is only a part of the solution. Nepal is not going to be reconstructed by foreign aid or foreign countries. WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE THE SOLE ARCHITECT OF NEPAL.

We all can do a little from our own place and position and whatever station in life we are in. I myself spent 14 years in USA and returned to Nepal with a BA and double MA. I have nothing much to gain in life for my own personal pleasure or satisfaction. So I am devoting my life, the next 20 years, to better Nepal one community at a time. I have registered and am operating a non-profit called EduVision Learning Solution, where I offer English, math, science and optional math at a low cost to school kids grade 5-10). The cost is low because we use volunteers who do not demand high payment. They come from local colleges who are doing their +2 and Bachelors.  In the two years I have been back in Nepal, I have realized that the science and English classes are particularly of low quality, so I have proposed establishing a computer lab to not only teach kids to use computer, but also expose them to international level of science, math and English with the help of computer software.

I am utilizing what I have learned in USA.  So I have proposed a fundraising based on sponsorships through a large number of contributors. The classroom has been reserved (20’x20’) There is a wall outside the classroom (20’x10’) that will be used as s mural. The mural will consist of a wall size Grand Canyon monument, a truly remarkable and awe-inspiring vista. The computer lab will have 100 sponsors who will each contribute (individually or in a group of up to 10) US$ 100/- or its equivalent (in other currencies) . The hundred spots will have pictures, names, addresses and favorite quotes of each contributor. The deadline for fundraising is April 15. For more info, please check the website below.

Let’s realize that Nepal needs us at this critical juncture more than ever  and  remember what the situation remains  in our own part of Nepal  (that you have left for the time being). Nothing can be done if we just become cynical and complain about how Nepal is doomed. We cannot continue the attitude and behavior reflecting our apathy and cynicism and expect Nepal to be any different than it is today. You must have heard the apt definition of ‘insanity’ many times. But let me repeat it: Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.  Should we not leave this ‘insanity’ behind us now and group into constructive contributors, not just someone who bitches?

Put your face on the Grand Canyon sponsorship mural, would you?

What I made was an invitation to you all Nepalis who profess to care about Nepal, and talk the talk yet fail to walk the walk. It also reflects on how you view yourself, a cynic or a doer? It is a choice we make every day, whether we realize it or not. Could you bear to return to Nepal to do what you can to help the beleagured nation? We can support Nepal in many ways. Unless we care, there is no hope, is there?

I do care. And I urge all sajha users to take part in this initiative.
I know that it might not be possible for an individual person to make
the contribution, but 3-4 sajha users, as a group effort, can donate
the amount. Please think about it.

BTW, how do I make the payment? Please email me with further details.

Dear bhikhaari: No contribution will be accepted until we reach the goal, and are in a position to take the matter further. We will post the necessary info after April 15 about the next step. Payment can be made in USA for NRN's in USA. If there are some cost effective ways you know, let me know.

This is an erercise, and social experiment of sort I am initiating to see, after observing so many patriots showing their willingness and remedy to solve Nepal's problems. We have talked the talk, now let's see how can walk the walk!

Each spot = US$100 so if you make a group of 10 for each spot: US$10/each

group of 4 = $25/each (not a big deal of a sacrifice considering what Nepalis are putting through here every day (What could be worse than only 3 days of power from 11 pm till 9 p.m. and daily new demands and threats to disrupt life by one or the other group?)

Is there any point in India dominating Nepal or encroaching Nepal's borders while we fail to take action that could make Nepal strong? The so called "netas" keep silent when it comes to protecting Nepal's borders, and the people, what do they do? Tongue patriotism!

Siwalik dai

May be you can use Help Nepal's account to raise funds. Help Nepal uses Groundsping.org i.e. for online donation which is very secure and they charge 3% of the donated amount or donors can send check directly to the Treasurer. Help Nepal or I personally will bear the cost to wire money for which you will have to go through Help Nepal's account in Nepal.

If this is a viable option. I urge you to contact Help Nepal's office in Nepal for possible coordination.

Mabi

Dear bhikhaari bro:

I have sent you an email informing about payment. We do not need payment just yet. Once we reach our goal, then we will move the project forward. For the time being, your support and spot sponsorship is enough. Once you become a sponsor, you can help the cause by getting your colleagues and other people with means involved in the effort. Nepal may be going down the drain, but if we have any chance of turning things around, we have to start somewhere. We all bear responsibility for Nepal's sad state, but we can also individually take action as and when we deem possible. God bless!

siwalik, first of all stand infront of the mirror with your legs wide spread, open your pants, turn around, strike your head in between your legs and see your face on a Grand Canyon Wall, i.e your BUTT.

You vile creature from Hell, how dare you make a such bold statement like "WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE THE SOLE ARCHITECT OF NEPAL". Filthy animal, you are not the authority but my Father in Heaven is. He is the only ARCHITECT of this universe. The Lord created the Heavens and the Earth on 6 days and on the 7th he took a rest. You Satan begotten, cockroach, burn in hell you will.

Bhikhaari bro: Thanks for your support. Does that mean you are good for one spot? That would be great because at the moment some are offering to sponsor more than one. I am considering whether that would be a good ideea. I mentioned Banepa as I saw that you are from there. This friend of mine actually came Board First in SLC quite a while back and is a doctor now. He went to Budhanilkantha School.

Jesus, my bows to you. Please whisper in your heavenly father's ear my sincere thanks for creating this universe. Thank you too for bringing "good news" to this world and setting such a devine example of sacrifice.

Dear Jesus:

It would be heavenly if I could put your sweet mug and that of your heavenly father on the Grand Canyon Wall. I am absolutely nothing is beyond your power. So how about granting this small wish? Please consider this a prayer.

Does anyone know where Jesus and his heavenly father have vanished. They hold total power on world affairs and are the architect of everything relating to Earth and this universe. I made a small request to them. I have not heard anything from Jesus or his heavenly father. If anyone know of their whereabout, please kindly inform why they are not granting my request?

Bhikaakri bro: Recived your note. Thanks. Of all the sajhaites, you have shown in deed what almost all express in words. My bow to you. Maybe we can meet when you're in Nepal, if you have a mind to visit Hetauda. You can also consider doing something for Banepa in future.

Thanks siwalik bro. I just might visit Hetauda during my stay in Nepal this summer. Is the contact info in the website correct? Or there's another means to contact you?
I will start something in Banepa for sure, but only after I return with my Ph.D., which will not be for about next 5 or 6 yrs.

Bhikaari bro: Of course there are other means. You already contacted me through email. The office info will change since I just signed a new contract with a better landlord for an office at a better location. I will put the exact address as soon as I get the house number. My UTL number is 057-239501. It will be great if you could visit. Traveling in Nepal is full of risk. One never gets to one's destination as pre-planned. But Ktm - Htd route through Balkhu to Htd using Sisneri by a Sumo is relatively painless and quick. We can work out the detail once you make a definite plan after arriving in Nepal. Do not be surprised by the disarray you will face in this motherland of ours. Bon Voyage. Look forward to meet you. Keep up with the Ph.D. program. We need as many Ph.D.'s as we can have. I myself stopped short of a dissertation, after completing the courses. But I settled for another Master's, which I feel has given be a different perspective in life and one that is far more valuable in the endeavor I have embarked.
