Congratulations to British Gurkhas for winning a long fought war against discriminations in Britain for decades. They won what they deserve.

Congratulations to those brave man.
But it is also a dark day for Nepal.
By Gurkhas having won their rights to settle in Great Britain, Nepal will no doubt lose
the "cream of the crops".
After all  "The Gurkhas are above all a martial race". by Lieutenant D. Bolt
(Warrior Gentlemen: Gurkhas in the Western Imagination by Lionel Caplan)

Secondly Nepal lose foreign revenue these brave man have been earning for Nepal.

What our mama did is great?

only my concern are as follows:

UK wont be another Jordan region of Hong Kong
UK wont see fight between Pakistani, Indian and Nepali
UK visa selling out for 25 lakh as dependent and more
UK visa should not represent another generation of Nepali as alcoholic, Drug addict and More.
UK visa should not represent as cheap food and beverage labor

nothing much to say but Hong Kong took 10 years at least to after so was provided to gurkha. Now atleast our generations are handling very well but last 5 yrs was shameful.

Respect to our mamas

Don’t know what are we so proud of? Master (British) kicked Gurkha (we Nepali) out after fighting for them for decades. We were begging, fighting to live in a servant quarter (as a second class citizen in England). Finally Masters showed some mercy.

Damn……, when do we become proud Nepalese? May not be in this life.

Hope to see more of Gurkhas communities coming back to Nepal in 4 to 5 years to run Nepal.
Hope the children of these Gurkhas will utilize their time and effort their fathers and forefathers have fought for to give them better life and education  and come back to motherland Nepal and contribute in Nepal's society especially politics and business sectors.
I haven't seen any Gurkha communities doing well in business or politics apart excelling in military.

bisal don't be Hypocratic. Or maybe you are jealous. i'm sure they are many nepalis in usa begging/hoping
for us passport!!!

but these brave people deserve it. they earned it.

I think we need little bit of objective analysis here. First, we should be proud of all the fellow nepalese brother, irrespective of their nature of service and country of service, as long as they contribute to the countries overall development, be that the Gurkha laure or Labors in Gulf countries. While praising the noteworthy contribution of Gurkhas to the development of local economy, I condemn  racists, cast specific, hyper-ethnic and self centered, thoughts in the name of so called research or ill doctrinated arguments.

Coming back to Gurkha, I guess it is the reward/favor/consolation prize from the British Govt to the Gurkhas who were not hired under the condition that they will be granted permanent resident or citizenship after their retirement. Again we have yet to evaluate the outcome of this event in regard to development of our country. The dying streets of Dharan do not look very promising.

I am happy Gurkhas are getting resettlement in UK. This will create bigger Nepalese voice in UK. More influence in UK politics with that much of gurkha population and next generation to come will even have more influence. The possible downside is now, gurkhas have no reason to send remmitence back home. They will invest the earning there in UK.

The only problem i have is how people portray Gurkha as a national pride. It just a mere foreign employment. If we had enough recruitment in Nepal itself, may be Gurkha would not have been this lucrative to seek for. This is something we should HIDE from the others we have been fighting for Britishers for THEIR cause for HALF THE MONEY Britishers would do the same job for with HALF THE RIGHTS of Britishers doing the same Job. I dont know where the word PRIDE comes into play in that. This is an embarassemt for us that our country is so shitty that our brothers, uncles, fathers actually have to fight for another country for money becasue there isnt much we can do in our own country. Nothing different than someone seeking a Job in the middleast.

Sid
