A driver is driving a bus filled with around 30 passengers including kids. After driving certain miles he approaches a steep curve and suddenly he feels that the brake has failed. On the left side of the road he sees around 5 construction workers and in the middle of the road little ahead he could see two young kids playing right in the middle and on the right side of the road there is no way !! if he turns right he will kill himself including all the passengers. Now he has to act fast and mental analogy drives him and brings him to the conclusion that he should drive over those two kids.!!
Is it morally right that he kills those two kids?

Please let me express my feelings...I am really a emotional person...

There are plenty of  horrible acts reported as News on TV, Newspaper, online...everywhere...sometimes you feel like why I am in this world....

Now, Raju161 is asking very mentally challenging questions, early in the morning, involving children on my Sweet Sajha.com, my mood at work becoming more...

moral laws says "save as many life as possible" but should we  support the way that driver thinks? Those kids who are about to die might be a productive member of the society or even an icon in the future ....

The poster's apparent lack of sensitivity in particularizing the adults in question is abnoxious and the question itself needs a moral course-correction. Ironically, what drives a person in such a situation is not a well contemplated judgement with ethical considerations but an instantaneous reflex action. I don't know whether you bring one's morality in question in the aftermath of such a situation.

Raju ji

Morality is something that comes from practise of religion, beliefs and culture. The fundamental morality of the world is same, the core ones. But just beacuse it is different than your does not mean it is WRONG to the other group.

I'm giving this scenerio to compare our morailty verses the Western with respect to what you and they beleive is same but different at the same time. Here's the example.

You, your mother and your son are on a boad and it flips over. Who do you save first?

Easter Cutlure's Moral : Save your mother first since she gave birth, she's like a god, she's your elder and on and on....all based their values.

Wester Cutlure's Moral : Save your kid first. He's the future. Your mother is old and has lived her life already. The kid needs to get a fair chance too. He can achive something what my mother has not....all based on their values.

See what I mean...it is just a matter where you come from.

With the scenerio you presented, I think the driver should NOT run over the kids based on western values but the result can be different from our prespective.

you are right Naively a person's instantaneous reflex action plays a decisive role in this scenerio so that's why he avoids the right side of the road provided he now needs to decide whether to run over the 2 kids or the 5 construction workers and in that short interval of time he decides to run over those kids to avoid more killings ....now i am kinda satisfied from Bob Marleys view in this ethical situation but prominently i would like to hear your views too ....if that driver has a couples of second to think and makes a judgement to runover those two kids do you think he made a morally good judgement?
what makes a person morally good ? Bob Marley those first two lines are kinda genuine but i got my own fact from aristotle point of view ...he believes that the good of the many out weigh the good of the few. But he also says that this is only the case in extreme circumstances and that the individual should be thought of and taken care of first and if we are to take care of the few , the many should be taken care of .
