i would choose:

king

nepal army

panchayat

things were better in panchayat than in democracy. nepal accured more debt during short years of democracy than compared to the whole era of panchayat system.

nepal ma manchhe chhada bhaisake, need a dictator. the most appropriate to bring law and order into place would be strict army regime

what makes you think that all the good people are in US and people living in Nepal are in cable and bad?

first correct your USA Nepali thinking.

What kind of people are in US there are many categories and most are " so called" IT professionals.

1. graduated from community college with below grades, get into Desi consultant and call themselves IT professional ( computer peon) are they cable? intelligent? -or those who lives in nepal, studying hard-in engg, medicine or good business degree they are good?

2. DV comers and subway people- are they capable of running country?

3. those who could not join engg or medicine, could not get into IOE or IOM, taught in some menial colleges and are not research scientists in US and others are doing research on social sciences, anthroplolgy and liberal arts- those are capable? if so their first choice would have been IOE or IOM.

4. those who filed asylum-are they capable?

5. Only few are capable and who are doing good, those are either in Business sectors and those who are graduated from good schools and with good grades. How many are those in US??

Kanchu,

What you said makes sense except here. I know lots of economists in the states they are really bright. When I say bright, I mean it. Since economics is a social science , you are really wrong to say people doing research in social science are not bright. In fact, I think doctors in Nepal are with some exception dumb. That's why they were pissed off when the son of a bhanse woman got scholarship to study in IOM.

Doctors and engineers are all ordinary workers, like sikarmi, dakarmi. The big shots who should run the country are constitution lawyers, economists and philosophers--with some knowledge of technology and history to put them firmly on the driver's seat so that they have perspective of where the country came from historically and where its relative position is. Doctors and engineers are not equipped to do that.

Kanchu and Timer

I do not know who should rule the country. But I know alot of Nepali students in USA with good grades (3.5 GPA in general). Is getting good grade/ or attending a good school makes person good ruler? I do not think that is true. For example, some of our royal family members and Crown princes themselves attended prestigeous school in the world. Did it make any difference? I think there was not much difference.

I would vote for  Mahindra Malla rather than Birendra Shah. Mahindra Malla Never saw Big schools of the world but Birendra did.

PIRE you should have read my 5 lines- answer is there. Who should lead the country is subjective questions but who are bright and brilliant is not subjective.

btw, how many of first bench people in the context of Nepal go for to study -liberal arts? perhaps none and currently who are running the country are the same-economists, anhtropologits and social scientits.

Doc and engr-just like ordinary lebour like dakarmi or nakarmi? you kidding me???- that is a typical loser mentality-no offense-last benchers thinking and typical nepali neta thinking. you must of one of those rit?

if you are economists, then tell me were you really wanted to be economists? did you score more than 80% in SLC or 45%? did you joined ARTS college in-spite of your 85% in SLC? yes I know there are few who would chose the profession irrespective of their grades and etc and I salute them. but if not, then stop being hypocrite here.

my very point is, if you edge out first benchers, brilliant and bright then it will never yeild anything good. What you study is of course secondary thing ( i pointed out some category based on my personal experience and to correct the wrong notion that all those who come in US are bright-that is not correct- what is true is that US has lot of options for third benches too and they who would never even think of going back to nepal are the real losers and incapable one) so i do not agree all those who are in US are capable.

Education always judges whether you are best or not, so does your grade speak in every level whether you are hard working or not. If you do not agree with this notion, then better not go for  formal education. They can follow the track of maoists cadre.

I have not heard for a long time about him. But when I was in  7 th grade (I guess) in government school there was a chapter" sabaiko Ghar Ko Dhuri bata Dhuwa aaepachhi matra khana khane Raja Mahindra malla".

I think  a ruler can not be called good ruler if he does not have love and respect to his people. In that sense, Mahindra Malla alwayss stands clearly in my mind.

May be we can google it  and know more about him.

It's a real hard question to answer. If we put a guttersnipe to rule our country he will opt to be worth a million and if we pur a rich lad in that position he is more likely to dread his power and will likely shake down all the desires of the people. It's real hard to find a ideal person now. Once again in the context of our country, back home i got a dog named jackey, he will probably run the country more better than no one of these sapheads.

Pire-

You think that only the people in your field (economics, I guess) are smart? You should learn to show some respect for those who deserve it.
