Died in the hospital, body unclaimed for 2 weeks ... What an Irony!
Rest in Peace "Deepak bro" (as I used to call him)!

Not that it makes any difference to him at this point, but this will hopefully aid a little to the efforts in getting his belongings shipped. I donated a little -- and urge the concerned ones to do the same if possible...

Tragic Death of Late Deepak Dahal

4 days ago we announced the tragic
death of Deepak Dahal in Houston. In this regard, Nepalese Association
of Houston (NAH) held an emergency meeting yesterday, Sat 11th to
discuss the matter. Besides the NAH office holders, the meeting was also
attended by two of Late Deepak Dahal’s friends.

As per Late
Deepak Dahal’s room-mate Nabin Basnet ji, Deepak was admitted to Hermann
Hospital in Beachnut on November 18th. It was only last week when the
employer of Deepak, Rashmit Patel (Telephone: 713 382 3341), started
investigating Deepak’s prolonged absence from the work it was found out
that he had died in the hospital on November 24th. After learning his
death on Dec 7th Santosh Pathak, another friend of Deepak, contacted
Madhukar Amatya ji.

Since the hospital had no information on
friends and family members of Deepak, after his death, the body was
transferred to the Carnes Funeral Home that performs the final rites on
behalf of the Harris County Breavement. Madhukarji has been in contact
with Mr. Cummins from the funeral home.

Madhukar ji, and Tara
Baralji has informed us that the family members of Late Dahal wants the
final rites to be done in Houston, and the "Asthi" to be sent to
Kathmandu.

NAH is facilitating the final rites of Late Deepak
Dahal with proper Hindu rituals with the help of Mr. Mukunda Hari
Gyanwali ji. The cremation will take place on Friday, at 10:15.  NAH
requests the community members to be present during these final rites.

The service will take place at: Carnes Funeral Home, 1102 Indiana Street, Houston, TX 77587.

Also,
on behalf of Late Deepak Dahal’s family, friends, and Nepalese
Association of Houston (NAH), this email is an appeal to all of you
kind-hearted Nepalese to kindly keep late Deepak Dahal in your prayers
and make a financial contribution the NAH Paypal account to cover the
expenses associated with final rituals, rites, and shipment of personal
belongings, etc. of Late Deepak Dahal. No contribution is small enough.

To make the contribution using the NAH Paypal account, please
click on the "donate" button at the top. NAH will collect donation until
the end of December 2010.

We also request you to kindly forward this message to any fellow Nepali who can possibly make a donation for this cause.

As a community-based, not-for-profit organization registered with the state of Texas, NAH values and appreciates your support.

On behalf of NAH,
Dr. Rupak Rauniar
