ANA Election 2011 First Draft of Voters’ and Candidates’ Lists

 
 
Dear ANA members, voters, candidates and well wishers,
 
Today is Wednesday, July 27th 2011. We are publishing our first list of voters and candidates for the upcoming ANA Election 2011. Please note that voters’ lists are collected from ANA-Boston Convention Team, ANA-DC Convention Team and ANA Interim Board. Since the voting will be done electronically, email address is most important. However, one email can be allowed to vote only once, therefore, while preparing the voter's list, lots of duplicate emails are deleted with indication. Those voters who are using the same email ID should contact their corresponding source and provide your unique email ID. Important Points:

 
1. The voters and candidates' lists are not final. Final List of Voters and Candidates will be published on Thursday, August 4. We are determined to allow all the eligible members of ANA to vote. Therefore, if your name or email is missing, please report to concerned sources as follow:

 
a] ANA-Boston Source: Mr. Bishnu Karki, Mr. Sundar Gurung and Mr. Arzun Jung Kunwar. All of them must verify your membership and information.

b] ANA- DC Source: Mr. Mrigendra Humagain, Mr. Laxman Pradhan and Mr. Prakash Nepal. All of them must verify your membership and information.

c] Paid Members (and/or Life M) : ANA Interim Executive Board, Mr Tsewang Sherpa Lama, President. Payment receipt/document must be presented.

d] Candidates should contact Election Committee.

 
2] Most of the Paypal paid members are presented through their email IDs (received from Paypal notification of confirmation of your donation) due to time constraints. Full information will be provided in the final list if necessary.

 
 
Any claims, correction or withdrawal of candidacy, correction to voters’ lists and essential voters’/candidates’ information must come to EC in written (email) by Friday July 29th by12:01 AM.

ANA ELECTION for 2011-2013 slated for JULY-AUGUST 2011
Official Communication of ANA(aka FoANA)
 
To all ANA Members and all concerned Nepalese community members in the Americas.

 
Following are some of the details on the decisions of the Special Emergency Meeting of the Executive Board. As per the mandate given by the Executive Board on February 6, 2011 meeting and re-approved and upheld in subsequent Executive Board meetings (Article IV Section 4 Subsection b), Independent Task Force of ANA (ITFANA) would like all ANA members and all concerned to know that:

1] ANA election will be held in the month of July to August, 2011 by the current Election Committee of three members, Dr. Sudeep Shrestha, Ms. Sardha Khati and Mr. Hira Sharma.

2] The Annual General Meeting of General Body at the ANA DC Convention will decide a democratic, transparent, inclusive, and fair election guideline as well as the eligible voters.

3] The Election Committee will publish the list of candidates and will notify the potential voters to be stand-by to elect their candidates.

4] A team of ANA Care Taker will be announced soon by the executive board and will officially be in charge of ANA until the newly elected officers are announced.

5) Furthermore, with executive authority bestowed independent of the Executive Board as legally binding document, ITFANA has full jurisdiction over ANA Election 2011-2013 until its conclusion.

6) ITFANA, soon to be announced ANA Care Taker and the three member ANA Election committee will work hard to ensure free, fair, inclusive, and democratic election for ALL members to participate as per the tradition and aspirations of all community members of North America.

As per the mandate, ITFANA would like all to know through this public notice that lawful action to respond to anyone or any situation against ANA would be undertaken. That includes spreading false rumor or disseminating opinions detrimental to economic success of 29th ANA Convention. Punitive measures will be sought if there is written record of so. Final decision on the 2011-2013 ANA Election related issues may rest with Annual General Meeting of Members of ANA and Nepalese community members of Americas attending the ANA-DC convention.

Raja Upadhyay Suspended as Chair of Election Committee

June 18, 2011

Mr. Raja Upadhyay, who has long served ANA primarily in the role of Election Committee Chairman has been suspended by ITFANA for his role in recent election. While he was out of country, according to him someone sent out email from his home email address announcing winners with his knowledge. He has not answered question on who sent the email, when he had ready internet access himself in out of country or why he decided to do so unilaterally when a day earlier the Election Committee had unanimously decided to halt election activities. He put the integrity of the Election Committee in question and has raised suspicion of other candidates. Therefore as per the notification of ITFANA, Raja Upadhyay has been suspended from his role as Chair of Election Committee of ANA and the matter may be pursued with any recourse chosen by ITFANA to uncover any anomalies and irregularities. Raja Upadhyay can request Executive Board of ANA to reinstate his position as Chair with documented explanation on the questions raised.

The Special Emergency Meeting of Executive Board of ANA unanimously approved and upheld jurisdiction of ITFANA on:
a.    Next ANA Election until its conclusion. 
b.    Financial matters of Boston Convention until its completion
c.    ANA/ NECC affair until the title is transferred.
d.    29th ANA Convention in DC until its conclusion
e.    Lawful action to respond to anyone or any situation against ANA

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ANA ELECTION COMMITTEE - June 14, 2011

 

We, election committee of four members, met on 9th of June and decided to conduct a fair election upon receiving verified voters' list from ANA executive board. We did not get the list until 12th of June, the day we were supposed to publish the list of voters and candidates. We publicly notified this situation and halted our election process until we receive  verified voters' list. We have not got the voters' list until today, June 14th.

 

We heard the rumor that someone got elected without election and without our notice. Since, the chairman of the election committee is out of the country, we three members came to a decision that we would not perform any election process until we receive verified voters' list from the executive board.


Any information coming out without the approval of majority of election committee is unauthentic and should be discarded.We would also like to ask the ANA community to disregard any unauthentic emails or news. We will update the election process in appropriate time.

ANA Election 2011 Update for candidates and voters

Dear ANA members, candidates and voter,

The ANA Election Committee (EC) would like to inform all the ANA members, voters and candidates about the following updates:

Candidates: Election will be held for the following positions (total positions eleven (11)):

1.      President (requires being a person of Nepali origins with citizenship or legal residency status in Americas. This is a legal requirement)
2.      Senior Vice President
3.      Vice President
4.      General Secretary
5.      Secretary
6.      Treasurer (requires being a person of Nepali origins with citizenship or legal residency status in Americas. This is a legal requirement)
7.      Deputy Treasurer
8.      Information Director
9.      Member at Large (n=3)

Eligibility for Candidates: Candidates must be the paid members by July 24th, 2011. Registered attendees of ANA-Boston and ANA-DC Conventions are considered paid members. For the position of the President, one must have served the ANA Executive Board for at least one year anytime since 1983. For the positions of the President and Treasures one requires to be a person of Nepali origins with citizenship or legal residency status in Americas. This is a legal requirement.

Important: All Candidates must be proposed and seconded by ANA paid members with good standing. One person can not propose or second more than one candidate. One candidate can not propose or second another candidate. Failure to do so will terminate the candidacy. Previously nominated candidates must review their nomination if the above mentioned requirements are violated and must re-nominate by July 24th.

Note: All the eligible voters must contact their representatives so that their names are not missed in the voter’s lists. EC accept the lists from the above mentioned Teams ONLY. Any missing of the names must come from the Team of representatives mentioned above.

Important Deadlines/Timelines:

There is an extension of the time-line for membership renewal and nomination filing due to delay in setting up the PayPal account in the ANA website. PayPal account has been set up on Friday, July 15th in the Donation section at www.anaonline.org.

Important: Election will be done online by Online Election Company. Election Committee will have no role other than sending the Online Voting Company the name and email of the voters and the candidate information. The Company will create voters ID, email link to voters and do all the election process and publish the election results. EC do monitor the election process.

Gandhi’s three and ANA’s five (5) monkeys
Gandhi’s three monkeys are one of the best moral lessons: “Do not see bad, Do not speak bad and Do not hear bad”. These days USA is in high heat due to the election in one of the oldest Nepali organizations named ANA. Since this is a Nepali election, we can see various types of monkeys but impossible to find Gandhi type of monkey. These election monkeys always see bad in opponents. They speak so negative for other candidates’ supporter and they don’t want to hear any criticism about themselves.
We have recently seen five such monkeys during ANA election. One monkey who is from Boston Zoo is not only a jackass but also very stubborn. Normal monkey breaks things only; this abnormal monkey breaks law, rules, moral values and humanity. Unlike normal monkeys, this monkey wants to grab everything from everybody.
The second one is the California monkey. Like Dozer this monkey wants to have everything in bulk. This monkey does not know that in bulk one always gets crap. Dozer minded this monkey when does not get higher position from competition, wants to snatch the lower position and runs away. In this character, this monkey even beats most of the Swayambhu and Pashupati monkeys.
There are two silent money’s from Canada and Florida, however, this Virginian monkey thinks he is the most brilliant among all other monkeys. But his jungle education does not apply to the civil society. Therefore, all those five ANA monkeys want to establish Monkey Raj in ANA. But they don’t know Nepalis are familiar with all sorts of monkeys and are well trained to get rid of all those monkeys.

ANA to sue Raja Upadhyay for his fraud action in ANA Election
Mr. Raja Upadhyay, the former Election Committee Chairman, was suspended for his fraud action during the ANA election in June. Mr. Upadhyay while in Australia declared the election result unilaterally using his wife’s email and hide. He chose his favorite five candidates whereas he disqualified all other candidates without any documented reason. Several questions have been asked against such a disgusting act from such a successful businessman. Since, his handpicked five self declared winners are challenging the upcoming ANA election in which they are shamelessly refusing vast majority of voters and well known candidates, ANA is consulting with attorney to take legal actions to Raja Upadhaya and his handpicked candidates.
It is being said that there are so many charges against Mr Upadyay and his team that any lawyer can easily file a lawsuit against them and bring them into justice. Many past presidents and many big names behind the scene are now restless, sleepless and seeking for legal counsel to protect themselves from any lawsuit from ANA executives. Let’s wait for the full episode.

Dear ANA members, voters, candidates and well wishers,

ANA Election 2011 will be officially over in August 2011. Details of the election process are in the ANA official website www.anaonline.org. The ANA General Board Meeting at ANA-DC Convention at Chantilly, VA on July 3rd has given a mandate to the Election Committee (EC) of three (Dr. Sudeep Shrestha, Mr. Hira Sharma and Ms. Sharda S Khati) to conduct and conclude the ANA Election in a fair, transparent and democratic manner. Thousands of voters and many more candidates are participating in one of the most democratic elections in the history of Nepali organizations.

EC is concerned about the fraud activities of some of the candidates of ANA Election, who have been declaring themselves as the elected officers of ANA without any election. This is the most immoral and shameful activities of so called well educated candidates of ANA Election 2011. Whoever does such a fraud and unethical action against the fully authorized election of a nonprofit organization is highly unacceptable. Those responsible are liable to lawsuit. Now, this is the time to end this boring drama. Election Committee through this press release would like to ask the ANA Interim Board and the Independent Task Force of ANA to take a necessary legal action for those whose fraud and unethical action is ruining the credibility and goodwill of ANA, one of the oldest and most prestigious nonprofit Nepali organizations in the US and Canada.

Some facts:

1.       Those so called self declared ANA Officers rejected voting right of thousands of eligible voters.

2.       Those so called self declared ANA Officers boycotted the ANA-DC Convention at Chantilly, VA on July 4th Independence Day weekends.

3.       Those so called self declared ANA Officers blamed that the ANA-DC Convention had no public support, the fact that some 3000 people attended the Convention.

4.        Those so called self declared ANA President (also the Senior VP of NRNA) blamed the Convention unauthentic; in fact all of his NRNA Executive Board authorized the ANA-DC Convention and participated with successful NRN forums.

5.       Those so called self declared ANA Officers praise the unethical, undemocratic and unauthentic action of declaring election result on their behalf by Mr. Raja Upadhay; in fact Mr. Upathaya has been dismissed from Election Committee for his highly unacceptable, unethical and shameful action.

6.       Those so called self declared ANA Officers are threatening the EC for a lawsuit; in fact EC is warning them to follow the election guidelines or face necessary actions.

IS NRNA ready to sacrifice its name and fame for its Senior VP?

Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) is becoming a common name for its association led by Mr. Suman Timsina in the United States of America. NRN-Association/America (NRNA) has seeded hope to all Nepalis in America for the betterment of Nepal and Nepali through this organization. NRNA is doing great jobs in its mission since its very short life of inception and gaining tremendous credibility among Nepalis diasporas here in the US. Unfortunately,in case of Nepali organizations,as the name and fame of the organization rises due to their incredible jobs,some chair bugs always come into the scene and ruin the name and fame of the organizations. Those position hungry people forget about all the morals and try to grab the position at any cost despite disagreement of the majority. Such action eventually leads the organization into either dysfunctional or disappearance from the community.

We are seeing the same situation in NRNA. This is an open secret that the appearance of Mr. Prahlad KC in the position of Senior VP was very controversial. Without any doubt Mr. KC hijacked this position in a very shameful manner. Still dedicated members and well wishers of NRNA accept him for this position just to protect the growing public support to this organization. This is unfortunate for NRNA team that Mr. KC’s same unethical and shameful strategy to hijack the President position of Association of Nepalis in Americas (ANA) without letting other practice democratic election is jeopardizing the name and fame of NRNA.

Mr. KC and his team shamefully declared themselves as elected Offices or ANA when all the Nepali communities in the US know that ANA election is still underway and will be over in August. His team declared themselves ANA Officers and in the same time ridiculously boycotted the ANA DC Convention 2011 at Chantilly,VA. Mr. KC,Sr. VP of NRNA,blamed this Convection as illegal,unauthentic and with no public support. Except him all the NRNA executives authorized ANA DC Convention and participated with successful NRN forums. Now the question is:where does Mr. KC stand in NRNA? More than 3000 Nepalis participated in the ANA DC Convention,and Mr. KC is saying the convention has no public support. Thousands of ANA members are willing to participate in the democratic ANA Election 2011,and Mr. KC and his team are proudly claiming that ANA belongs to these handful people and rest are not ANA members.

Now,it is crystal clear that Mr. Prahlad KC is a problem in Nepali community. He created problems in NRNA,now he is creating problem in ANA. If all the NRNs don’t find a cure for such a problematic character in NRNA,NRNA will no doubt face grave challenges in the near future that may lead to the formation of another NRNA in the US. It is the choice of NRNA Executives whether to get rid of this rotten potato or all get rotten to be permanently discarded.

A Lesson Mr. Pralad KC Must Learn
It is so unfortunate to have ANA's bone to pick with Mr. Pralad for the betterment of society. Could you look straight in your nearest and dearest one's eyes and speak with a forked tongue two more times? I bet you; you can't. It is because a quality people with good values, integrity, and a little feeling never visibly gets blossomed on such fabricated story. I know you are better than this sir.  Once Shiva Khera told" It is not how much you eat that matter, what matters is how much you digest." Therefore, please do not kick up such a fuss about your game that nobody digests.
Unfortunately, you did blunder by instigating people who are busy as grand central station for ANA's convention. And you are whistling for prestige as ANA's president!   And, you are as happy as a lark in your own world on the horns of dilemma. And why why why you could not dare to fight in election by convincing ANA's members by stopping all hemming and hawing.  Therefore, Mr. Pralad, your self -declared team worth next to nothing until it is tested by people.  Such naïve and baseless statement might prove you and your team incompatible for any national organization for the future too.  It is ill- assorted cosmic irony to thank ANA's members and ridicule them at the same time.  It would sound better if you would have written "self generated life members from family of seven living in North America."  In this light, I challenge you to show 242  life members' paid receipts including your own publicly. If President Obama and Governor Boby Jindal can show their birth certificates, dare to show life members' paid receipts to prove your integrity!  In return, I can demonstrate at least 20 ANA members' paid receipts and won't forget mine. Now it is crystal clear that you directed their name to be excluded on your so called "verified list" and you quickly plunge into and penetrate such extremist, autocratic act of declaring yourself a "president".
 Everybody can tolerate clash in ideas in a democratic process. But, the lick and promise that you have been relying on currently does not last long.  Believe or not, personally, I don't want all the e-mails generated by your group including this one not having any other ruse than a semantic mugging with a purpose becoming self declared leaders in North America welcoming all ignominy possible. The cold reality is that you and your team don't have believe on own leadership. Do you? Now, I won't be surprise if you declare yourself the president of universe with the same 242 self created life members in the midst of bylaws interpreted in your favor only because you are their long time friend. . What a utopian society you are dreaming for sir. Come on, wake up now and prove otherwise!  Husband your energy and face challenge with all presidential candidates in a debate to be held in DC convention to persuade members with your agendas and defeat all of us in a real election.  Let's learn a lesson of a democracy and transparency before it is belated for the advancement of our society!!! Plus, do not forget to read A. Pope's mock epic  A Rape of a Lock  over summer.
