BBMB,
I have seen people coming here as J1 and then later on taking J1 waiver to change status to H1B. According to them it is not difficult, just that it takes 2/3 months. IMHO, you don't need to worry about that so much.

I know in general h1 is considered better than j 1 I think. But I have never been in this situation personally so do not know.

i also think so. I tried to research on this things and tried to talk with my friends about the j1 but none had idea because they have not been in the situation. I feel like if i go for j1 then i will have some setbacks while transfering to another company but not sure yet.
