Yesterday (January 26, 2006) PBS (Public Broadcasting Service, the BBC of the US) had a National Geographic program on surviving monarchies around the world. There was a small segment on Nepal. There it talked about the history of Shah bansa, the Royal massacre of 2001 (gave the official story-line along with commentaries from Kunda Dixit and Puskar Rana?), and showed a footage of Paras’s sister’s wedding to a Nepali aristocrat who graduated in computer science from UCLA.

Chairman G gave a brief interview. Some of his quotes (no kidding),
· “I am like a father figure to Nepali people”.
· “Nobody has told me that monarchy is not relevant in Nepal. Nobody”

That guy used to live in San Francisco, not LA, how can this guy graduate form UCLA??

I also wathced the program. It was trying to show how popular the manarchy is in the world. He also said that " Nobody has told me I am a white elephant". The funny thing, the program ended with a sentence that KG said " Let the people decide".

He might be using his private Jet to fly from S.F to L.A, its just half an hour flight!

I also watched this programme and I couldn't stop laughing for KG saying that
"Nobody has told me I am a white elephant".
What a great joke !

gyane should receive academy award for great acting. it was very convincing and "buyable " for people who do not know much about politics in nepal.

Gyane's son in law was working on odd jobs while he was here and went to noname school in Fremont for some time but did not graduate. Now he is a UCLA graduate? Has a private jet and can buy a degree from anywhere? What do I know.
