Why is gyane and his chamchas targetting only UML leaders and trying to issolate UML. Is he planning to bring in Girija or Deuba again as his puppet PM. I am preety sure he is already planning new government after unsuccessful election and failing economy and diplomacy. Only question is Who? and When?

OHCHR helps Khanal, Gautam, Bohara escape arrest

Kathmandu, February 14:

The Armed Police Force personnel today gheraoed the central office of the CPN-UML in Balkhu where standing committee and central committee members were holding an important meeting.
Party’s central committee member Rajendra Pandey told this daily that an APF team led by Superintendent of Police Madhav Thapa gheraoed the party office for about two-and-a-half-hour in a bid to arrest Bamdev Gautam, Jhala Nath Khanal and Amrit Kumar Bohara. Pandey said the security personnel arrived in three vehicles, including a police van (Ba 1 Jha 6517).
The leaders, however, managed to escape when a team of UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and representatives of other rights defenders arrived at the scene after learning that the security personnel had surrounded the office. Pandey said the security personnel left the area after the OHCHR team rushed to the office and inquired about the incident.
He said there were nine standing committee members and six-odd central committee members holding a meeting to chalk out the programme to observe Democracy Day (February 19) as anti-autocracy day, as decided by the agitating seven-party alliance.
According to Pandey, the meeting decided to mark the democracy day as a co-ndolence day for the killing of two political cadres of the UML and NC-D in Dang and Dhangadi, respectively.
The meeting also noted that the Supreme Court’s decision to scrap the controversial Royal Commission for Corruption Control was “constitutional, positive and a welcome step”.
The meeting was chaired by acting general secretary Bohara.

I think this is what is being planned. (Just trying analyze using my small political brain)

- Blame understanding with maoist on UML
- Girija will accept primeministership and support King's blame UML was culprit
- Then use force to wipe out maoist and UML
- India/ US will be happy as both communist forces are gone, they will provide logisting support to wipe out communists
- Congress and RPP and other small parties will be happy cause one big political contender is gone

I am basing my analysis on following facts
- Silence of 7 parties after election and RCCC dismantle
- Moriaty met with Girija and Surya Bhadur Thapa
- Security forces are trying to capture big UML leaders
- Security forces have not release any UML leaders eventhough they released congress leaders
- Security forces are targetting and shooting UML leaders (Umesh Thapa)
- Sudden dismantle of RCCC and release of Deuba and Singh, may be congress will be one again

So from your analysis, Prajatantra, political party leaders of Nepal are nothing but bunch of useless pawns that can be tossed around by anyone, in this matter by King and by Maoists. And nepalese still support these leaders????

I had heard that there is not much of Cummunism idealogy left in CPN-UML..Some party members were even thinking about changing the name of the party some time ago.

I guess CPN-UML is far more like left leaning social democrats than Communist party.

Hurray,

you are right, Nepalese leaders so far have not showed any credibility. That is the reason why "nagrik samaj" and student unions are leading current fight with autocratic regime. The leaders are part of it, but we must be cautious about their move. I do not thing Girija, Makune or Deuba will let a chance to be PM get away. This is what King capitalized his whole move to loot the country on.

Khaobadi,

You are in party central level UML are no where near communist ideology, they are more like socialist parties, like green party in US or upto some extent like democrats. But root level leaders still have some communist ideology left, some of them also function as UML cadres in Day and maoist cadres in Night. If Maoist come to political process UML will be the biggest loser.

They were thinking of changing the name, to make US happy about them. Cos few years back when they came to power, they could not run country well, bcos west were reluctant to support communist government. But I think they drop the idea becasue it will impact their vote banks badly, lower class and lower-middle class nepalese.

Prajantantra, even though you said "That is the reason why "nagrik samaj" and student unions are leading current fight with autocratic regime," at the end it is people like Girija, Makune and Deuba that are placed on the throne of prime ministership. These old leaders have always and will block all ways for newer generation leadership to foster within their parties. Didn't we see that Girija got the majority of votes just recently from his party members?
I wonder if there is any possibility of newer generation of leaders establishing their own party and gaining a recognition? That way, nepalese people could at least be sure who to support, and kick these old farts out.

Firstly, hope Girija will die soon.

Secondly, Girija can be autocratic in party right now because he know he doesnot have to face public election sooner. Once the democratic election process starts then it will dearer for him to get these kinds of move like sidelining Gagan Thapa and Nar Hari Acharya.

They have already been victim of that, when their own party got split and collapsed their majority governement twice. When they failed to get majority in 2nd parliamentary election. The process will cure them. I am sure they will not be able to make public fool as they use to before. Becuase more and more nepalese have seen true color of politics and understood politics because of on going maoist conflict. I think once we have democratic process going, now on wards result will be more productive and positive. Nepalese have learnt the lesson of not caring about politics and running after bogus promises.

Thats why I think more and more of our generation should be interested in politics, that does not mean running in road and throwing stone. But maturely debate with them, when someone comes to our door for voting we readily listen to their crap and promise everyone we will vote. But we do not ask them what will they do and moreover what is their plan to achieve their promise or how will they do achieve that.

Also most of us decide about voting early enoug, ok I am congressi I will vote congress no matter how bad the candidate is. I am UML i willl vote UML no matter how corrupt he is. So this process has to change.

Definitely, the king would try to split the 7 party-alliance. Dissolution of RCCC and release of of Deuba and Prakashman is a part of a big game. Otherwise, while some leaders are being freed, its irony that security force cordons the UML office and attempts to arrest its leaders. It seems that Americans are also trying to cook something They don't feel embarassed to support the autocratic king in the fight against commnists as they hate even the alphabet C of Communists. UML has already under gone so much changes in their political lines and recent interviews of Prachanda reflects that maoists are also giving up the communist dogma, in the changed global context.

If NC or NCD or RPP didn't get lesson yet and came into the fishtrap of King or USA or whoever, it will be just an irony for the country.

So far, USA has nothing to do with human rights violation or democracy in Nepal. It just needs its strong presence in Nepal to watch the activities of two Asian economic giants India and China.

reason I believe is UML has better organization and mobilization of their party cadres than other organization. their members are more committed. and in capital they are the one.

so if govt. can neutralize UML before they start anything. all the other democratic forces are contained and king can rule easily.

as always
what do i know (O:

While he is targeting UML, the king is not for NC or any other party among the 7. He just wants to split the alliance. Seven party alliance is his main headache, in fact he hates it more than he hates maoists.
