Does anyone know what a “kauda” shell is called in English?

And what is the significance of such shell, or what is it used for? Is there any historical significance to it?

I am doing a small research and I need some help, at least to find out what it is called.

.
on a more serious note, try looking under 'conch shells'. i know your typical idea of a conch shell is them massive things that you can use as a 'musical' instrument, but i do believe that the shape of the कौडा is conch
