Every time I peep in sajha, there’s always been hysterical discussion about Racism, Castism and the ISM (whatever they are).
Not only that, it is so embarrassing to open some of the threads in the public..Not to mention the derogatory words.. I never understood if ppl dun have self-respect as well as respect for others or just are from the Ghetto (the mentality).
But I think its slap in our face to talk about these ISM(S) and not trying to find the solutions. If we want to solve the ongoing problems based on the castes and creeds, I think we should change ourselves first.

I agree with BORNFREE that every one is trying to take make racism and discrimination as the ladder for his/her own benefits whether its political/social/individual….
But, hello what abt Jantas…and we are the ppl who have THE power if recognized and utilized wisely.
It is so sad though to see ppl in sajha fighting over nothing..tryin to prove how low they can go instead of uniting and acting like humans.
It’s the serious issue and if not handled with extreme precaution, we will not even get time to regret in future.

Just my 2 cents…

Yes it is true....

In sajha, there is lots of topic in racism, discrimination, castism....

It is not bad .... It is democratic freedom country. Nobody cross the line....

It is reality of suppression of Rana, Chettris and Bahun... which is obsultely unfair to all Nepalese people.

All national highest corruption and crimes belong to Chettris, Bahuns and Rana.

There is no doubt on it.

I agree...

In Nepal, After Rana regime collapsed Chettris and Bahun rule Nepal which is 2nd WAVE of darkest age of Nepal.

Chettris and Bahuns created as well as implemented Racism, Discrimination, social and political suppression to native tribes of Nepal.

Loot at reality....

99% Chettris and Bahuns work in Nepali government offices, government institutions and political parties. Rest of native Nepalese people left behind. It is not that they just did not want... because it is Chettris and Bahuns Racial discrimination in all sectors like education, political, employment and social.

How come Chettris and Bahuns have 95% opportunities and other Nepalese tribes do have opportunities in education, employment and political participation.

It is straight and obvious fact of racial discrimination by Bahuns and Chettris in Nepal.

Even any Nepali street dog must understand that....

Is not it?

Aneesha or Amanisha,

I agree with what you say. It is our mentality and trend of thought that we must first change if we want to bring about any change in nepal.

But it is also necessary to keep the discussion front of the "ISMS" in conjunction with your desired change that you want to bring about. As much as the power of action is eminent in bringing about a change, it is usually and historically followed by a long period of speech, contemplation, generation and regeneration of ideas, sharing of such ideas, change in minds of the young people. It is absolutely necessary to remain aware at all times with the general consensus of people's either stagnant or ever growing thought process. Without the input of the people and knowledge of their needs WHAT ACTION DO YOU WANT TO TAKE?

And you talk about the POWER OF PEOPLE. COME ON. We as a nation have not been able to do jacksheet since democracy or even before that. If anything the gap of inequality is rising expediently every single second. Is that why there came a situation in which the Maoists had to be created? It is precisely BECAUSe of the lack of power among the people, we have such radical groups rising and winning the hearts and minds of people in the rest of nepal.

As for the Capital, OBviously every one hates the maos becuase ITS THEIR LAND AND MONEY AT STAKE.

But yes i still maintain your trend of thought. Change must come amongst us. How do you plan to do that Miss? Please do enlighten me.

BCoffee,

I think you dont drink enough bathroom coffee to wake u up... THere's TOO MUCH DISCRIMINATION WAKE UP or do you just plain choose to be ignorant? If its a choice then god be with you. If not, I strongly suggest a stronger stimulant than Coffee.

Yes discrimination of Nepalese is not limited to our idiotic divisive approach, instead of united stance, look at the break down, there is no sub breakdwon for Nepalese, that is how they are seen.

KHADC crack down on unregistered migrant labourers

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG: The Enforcement Wing of the KHADC has detected a large number of migrant labourers coming from other states including some from Bangladesh and Nepal during its ongoing checking at Iewduh here.

According to sources, around 3000 unregistered labourers from outside the State were found engaged in various jobs in the market since the operation started on August 1 and most of them were either fined or registered by the Enforcement Wing authorities.

Sources said during the operation, it was found that 40 percent of the non-tribal labourers were Nepalis, 30 percent Biharis, 15 percent Tripuris and five percent were suspected of being Muslims from Bangladesh. The overall figure will be made available after completion of the current drive.

The operation would be conducted in other parts of the city, including the residential areas where mixed population is high, authorities said, while appealing to the people including genuine non-tribal residents to extend cooperation in identifying unregistered migrant labourers in their areas.

As far I know that....

We have big and deep root problem with Racial discrimination in Nepali government, politics, Nepal development and Nepal democracy.

This must be fixed to save Nepal as a country and democracy.

From my personal observation, there is noticeable amount of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, caste, language, class, religion and political affiliation. People do it intentionally and there is no one stopping you. Is it the "freedom" that should be there in a democracy? People even don't know the meaning of democracy. People ruling the country including the king has exploited the country's wealth so much that still now we are one of the poorest countries of the world.

Rulers of Nepal deliberately exploits the country's wealth so that they can get more loans and aid from the other countries. %^&* them,

Education is the backbone for the democracy..otherwise badar ko hatt ma nariwal.

Education, Eradication of poverty and oppurtunity can change society faster than government sponsred programs. If the New Nepal takes decisions that will not control its citizens thought process or business ambitions, in long run will yield positive results.

What I mean is if some one wants to become an Engineer, study medicene, arts he should do it from good/bad college, quality will become better later on but let colleges open up and educate more people. If some wants to do business (ofcourse right businesses only) let them do it not thinking of consequences (India prohibits VOIP phones thinking it will affect BSNL and other companies such santions are against innovation) there should be no sanctions. If the New government creates an environment for Innovation and entrepreneurship, people will benefit immensely and many social issues will be rooted out. Its a process and will take time meanwhile lets not blame each other for problems.

Dont worry about Government Jobs, as world changes not everyone needs them or wants them.

By the way,I from India (We are no brothers, we should be partners) and love the site and gals on site a lot. Congratulations on this beautiful site.

"
99% Chettris and Bahuns work in Nepali government offices, government institutions and political parties."

So what mait? 99.9% of the Newars control the local business and rest 0.1% newars work in education and government and politics.

100% of the marwaris control larger business.

Besides, there may be 'larger' percentage bahuns in govmnt, and political parties, but not large percentage OF bahuns and chhetris.

Descrimination in Nepal will never end. Its pretty evident from the discussions on different threads here in sajha. Most of the people that come and post here in Sajha(my assumption) are educated. Before I used to think education was the main issue. I thought maybe if people are educated we would not have these differences. But judging from what I see here... I see no hope.

Kukur ko puchhar 12 barsa samma sojhyaye pani bango ko bangai.

Today Madhes, tomorrow Sherpas, then Newars, then Bahuns, Then Chetris and so on and so forth. Till Nepal as a country ceases to exist. Lets keep on fighting amongst ourselves.

Posts like this give a glance of how we are divided from heart. A tiny country with handful of people is divided into innumerable pieces. People are divided by caste, religion, ethnicity, region, culture, tradition, class, looks and so many other things. There are divisions inside divisions just like castes inside castes. Nepal looks like the topical farm land just before the monsoon. .... everywhere cracks.

What is the real cause of the division.

1. Culture: We consider ourselves as very civilized people but we are far behind the race of human civilization. We have regressive culture; an unscientific culture where wisdom comes with blood, intelligence comes with blood, education comes with blood :); bravery comes with blood; muscle comes with blood, strength comes with blood, power comes with blood; ruling skill comes with blood :) ......and so many other things comes with blood.

Not only this much; illiteracy comes with blood; ignorance comes with blood, foolishness comes with blood, dumbness comes with blood, cowardliness comes with blood, weakness comes with blood; destiny to be ruled comes in blood .... many more things comes with blood :).

2. Injustice: If we go by caste, Majority of Brahmans and Kshatries (including kings) have ruled Nepal politically and Newars ruled economically. They must take the responsibility of our backwardness. Of course ruling people are always privileged and they hold major jobs. It is inevitable truth that most of the government posts and political posts are occupied by Brahmin, Kshatries and Newars. BTW, does anybody know any non-Brahmin in CPN-UML other than speaker dude? :); sorry it was just a joke :).

However, I have seen myself.... there are Brahmins; there are Kshatries and there are Newars who live miserable life. They can not afford two meal a day full stomach ... and my friends, this number of Brahmin, kShatries and Newars is incomparably bigger then those who can be seen in picture. The privileged one are very little but the majority of Brahmins, Kahstris and Newars are in same boat where the majority Nepali are in. I must admit that there are so called lower castes whose condition can not be compared with others. ...I have never considered myself belonging to any particular caste, class and ethnic groups. ... All are mine and I am theirs. .. I have compassion for all have-nots despite their caste and culture....All I know is I belong to Animal kingdom as a human species... and my religion is humanity.

One of the biggest reason of failure of Shah Dynasty was not to be able to include all ethnic groups, all casts and all cultures in the governing system. Handful of Brahman, Kshatriya and Newars got great privilege and they are being seen everywhere. As the 21st century came with avalanche of communication, people found that they have been ruled by handful of people. They have found that they have been faked by rulers saying that the country is theirs. They couldn't see their representation in government in any form... This was huge injustice and what we are seeing is the cause of this injustice....king Gyanendra became victim of this injustice even though the injustice was long rooted....I can foresee many people being victimized of this social injustice.

I always believe that the truth has to be seen from various angles to get good feel of it. So, this is not the entire truth. If I get time I will write more.
