If your XP disk is NTFS, you can share the disk and assign quota; join the domain and share it to the domain members -- while your authentication server checks for the ID/Password. When user logs on, the disk will appear under the shared folder. ~@~

bond_oo7 (Interesting name :-) your sajha-name reminded me of an old friend of mine that used to call himself 007-- whew ~~ turned me nostalgic again). Anyways, getting back to the track: You already have Server 2K right? Don't be using the Workgroup anymore. :( It's a Pain!!! Install the Active Directory from the 2K CD -- it's as simple as installing an instant messenger. Then create a domain -- push the members to the domain, and have a centralized control of the Network. Here's the link that walks you through. http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_install_active_directory_on_w2k.htm But please make sure you have all the patches, hotfixes, and SPs well up-to-date. Remember, you're increasing security risks everytime you are adding services. ~@~

You could use VPN; but since you're only concerned with controlling it while within the LAN, the best bet would be to use VNC. Install TightVNC or WinVNC -- you don't need to worry about port forwarding; simply set up a password and use the browser to remotely connect and manipulate the machine from any computer. By default, Ports 5800 & 5900 are used. So, if you are to access your 2K server with VNC service running at the IP 10.1.1.5, simply type http://10.1.1.5:5800 on the browser, and it will prompt you for the password, then you're in!! No need to have a client running on the workstation you're using. :) !!! ~ Make sure you have JAVA VM installed on your workstation machine though! ~@~
