I really don't trust Mitsubishi. They have the worst transmission among all the japanese automobiles. I would suggest Toyota or Honda. Lasts for ever

vuttro_jasto,
I have drove almost all japanese cars and I feel Mitsibushi is best of all.

sahayog, $8000 seems good deal. Go for it buddy. But make sure everything is in condition.

Sahayog ji, Some Mitsubishi cars do not come with ABS which is very important. As far as reliability is concerned; I suggest you to go for Toyota, Honda or Nissan.

Is a 2000 Honda or Toyota better than a Mitsubishi Lancer 2004 ?
How about KIA and Hyundai?
I do not even want to talk about american cars, Ford and all.

Forget about Kia and Hyundai. They are not reliable and also don't have resale value. If you are looking for a regular sized car; try Honda Civic, Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima. Try Honda CR-V if you need additional cargo space. These are reliable vehicles .... good on gas and good resale value too.

why are our nepali brothers such a fan of honda civic/ accord and toyota camry...
i have seen ford taurus, chevy malibu that have crossed 170miles and still running smooth as hell..and even mitsubishi ,,eclipse that has crossed 160 and still smooth /..

And i have also seen honda civic and prelude and civic with about 80k and still rattling and vibrating all over..i find that brand thing a hype..give a good road test whatever you buy,,if u feel that you are going to keep the car for 4 or 5 years and then junk it or sell it for whatever you can then get a smooth one than a good brand junk,,, But well if u are thinking of buy a car of 8000 now and selling it for 7k or 6k after 4 years,, then keep dreaming,,it wont happen,,they will have newer models for similar price then..
