Hello everyone,

It has been quite a while that I am visiting sajha. Initially I found sajha as a place where I can meet Nepalese from different backgrounds, age, location and most of it, expressing themselves annonimously. There are सभ्य शालिन threads like Chautari and there are threads against some person, eg. Bhagat. There are threads of confessions, threads of information and what not. अनेकताको एकता छ साझामा।

Because of these varied topics and large number of members, the threads roll pretty fast. This thing attacted me at first. But now, it has become an addiction. बिहान उठ्यो, पहिलो कुरा नै साझा, दिनभरि पनि साझा, सुत्नु अघि पनि साझा। समय नै साझामय भएको छ। It looks like it is very difficult to get away from sajha.

But, Due to these large number of threads with racial discrimination, I have started to grow racist feeling in me. May be I had some racially discriminatory feeling inside me but sajha has definitely helped to worsen it. A sober reader of one time I cannot help myself from trying to defend, which in turn exacerbates the discriminatory feelings.

Does anyone of you also have such feeling? Is it good to talk about racial discrimination? Have the threads like in sajha made u more conscious about your race/caste/ethnicity? Have such threads ever made u think to find a better reason to defend yourself, which in turn makes u conscious of the discrimination and instigates hatred in your otherwise cool mind?

Its a human nature that one tries to defend himself and his kind whenever needed. Is it proper to generalize and tag somebody as extremist? or force somebody to extremism?

I do not want to be but.... errrr.

.. .need help.

.
That is true.. It is similar in my case.
I am visiting Sajha since it started.
It has been a while,.... I think it was after Royal massacre.
Threads with Bahunism started by some Sajha members.
Actually Sajha has become a sick-bag like in aeroplane,.....
people come and vomit here in Sajha everything from last 238 years of history.

My opinion is everybody should be allowed to tell everything about their castes and triebes. More you talk more it become transparent.
We were not allowed to talk about ourselves for 238 years.
But Time has changed now. So I believe it is just a transitional period
of multi cultures in nepal. It takes a while to digest all those differences.

We are fighting each other today because........................
Shah Dyanasty could not raise us in open and free multicultural environment.
They were busy themselves in powergames inside the royal palace all the time.
They always tried to bring racial diferences in between us so that we do not become united and stay weak. It is the same with the religion.

We are today in different world and we have to think different.
Let´s join hands together and do something together...
.

Copy Ji:

Racism is a nasty virus which has been in human society even before the civilization began. Last year George W Bush admitted that USA is a raciest country. Can you believe, the most advance country of the world is affected by this virus in 21st century! A survey showed that Scotish want to have their separate identity. Irish are distinctly discriminated in one of the most civilized country the Great Britain.

Roots of racism:

Root of racism is the superiority complex. Believe me, most of the people always try to prove that they are superior over other. This is not human nature but this is an impurity in human mind. It is a complex and it comes in different form.

Why people like this complex?

It is because this complex comes with pleasure. If someone praises you, you get pleasure and you do all short of nasty things to get that pleasure. Since better things got praise, you always try to prove to show yourself better. I am from a great family.... my for fathers were so great....I am related to this great person...my brother scored 2400 in GRE..... all these things are to boost one's own ego and take pleasure of self pride. Racism is one of them.

I am from this great caste... my caste is superior... my ancestors used to be great scholars.. great worriers... very rich man and benefactor of many... very compassionate good hearted person... very generous person... These all things makes you feel high and you are addicted to these things...

Like any other addictions, addiction of superiority complex comes with trouble.

What is the trouble?

If you are saying you are superior, you have to compare with others because superiority is a relative term. Unknowingly you happen to make others inferior. Like you everybody doesn't want to be inferior this is where conflict arises. If somebody makes you feel inferior it hurts you and hatred arises for the person.

This is the science of racism. Superiority complex is the cause of Racism. .. Superior feeling gives you pleasure ... and you are addicted to that pleasure.

West has evolved physically but not mentally and genetically. People in the west share the same subtle human values as the people in the entire world. Superiority is a very subtle complex which has infected almost all the human race. This is why you see racism even in civilized west as well. Complexes are negative, so they exist in animal world as well. All animals try to prove themselves stronger then their competitors...Animals have only one thing to show ie physical strength.. unlike them, humans have so many things and fields to show off... Race is one of them.

Racism is an individual problem. It can not be triggered until it is in your mind. I agree there is huge racism in Sajha but if you want to believe me it doesn't effect me at all.

If you go few thousand years back you will find... you, someone who is considered today inferior to you and someone who is considered today superior to you, had the same fore father.....If you go few millions years back, you will find we all are homosapien, decedent a same monkey.

Cant agree more Vishontar.

Sayami,
so u mean that I should involve myself for long time, like u, in may be, reading such stuff. Did you mean that you also, at one time, felt like me? And does this indicate that 'understanding' will grow in person and prevent from extremist feelings if talked more?

If Sajha is a common place to put views from everyone there must be some thread against NEWAR, but it is personal site so the administrator either deactivate the account or remove the thread against NEWAR. I have seen several anti bahun thread by the guy like sayami and they are not taking any action against him. I know several people Nepali people who really do not like NEWAR (Really Hate), the way how newar discriminate other caste, they way NEWAR baised, . I am always ready to discuss and i can successfully prove why Newar deserve for the current racial situation of Nepal. But this is not good site to discuss. This is autocratic site run by Newar. I can challenge all the Newar. Do you know how leader from Newar community started racial groupism in the country? Do you know how much biased are the newar faculty and staff at tribhuvan university? How much biased are the Newar people of KTM? So first think inside yourself and then only about other.

"but it is personal site so the administrator either deactivate the account or remove the thread against NEWAR."

Do you intend to say that Bahuns are more prone to have my kind of feeling if frequented to sajha?

sacho kura's post talks about sajha trend and threads, and that is the topic i wanted to discuss. I wanted to know if there is anybody else who is addicted to sajha. and that addiction is trying to bring 'ethnic self realization' in me and demean others if they go against not me but my race/region?

I was particularly interested in the theme of sajha threads and their impact to us personally. Thats why i did not say anything to sachokura.

But when you replied to him, you picked the part of his posts that was just the bhumika, according him, i guess, to make the point on how sajha threads are like. so, if we pick those kind of parts and discuss on them, the essence of this thread will be lost. And most importantly, for me personally, since i started this thread to learn more how to manage the changes and discussions of racism than what causes or what is the situation of discrimination in nepal.

copycat,
i really respect ur endeavor, but see how biased we all are ??? you were intelligent enough to understand his words as cliche, but picked my words as being biased. You have to stand on others shoe to understand how he feels and how he perceives. You see the words of sachokura as cliche and I see as accusations.
"I know several people Nepali people who really do not like NEWAR (Really Hate)" . Is this sentence "BHUMIKA or the fact ????

definitely hamro herne dristi farak parechha. If i have to comment on that particular FRAGMENT OF SENTENCE, I hate it if taken totally INDEPENDENTLY. I would not like if somebody posted only that part of sentence without making any relation to the topic of this thread. As i understand, u took that sentence as independent sentence. I took it as the continuation of the previous sentence which talks that there are some people in sajha who are racially biased. and the SAME sentence you quoted in half, the second half says that there are some people who are 'newar biased' which means they over-love newar. He has said that there are both type of person in sajha, to make the point that the way i felt that sajha is feeding me racial awareness, is a valid point.

Look at it again, in full. "I know several people Nepali people who really do not like NEWAR (Really Hate), the way how newar discriminate other caste, they way NEWAR baised. "

Untill this sentence he was contributing to make me understand more on racial discrimination issues. I definitely agree that after this sentence, he went on to show his stand on such issues, though it was not welcome in this thread. But, as he was contributing SOMETHING towards to ease me, I didnot complain to his post. Help me understand on how to battle such feelings mentioned in the original post of this thread. Please. and i will thank you. Actually, thanks in advance, I am sure gyan badda tapailai kunai aapatti chhaina.

I did not pick you words as biased or anything. I do not care. I picked your words as not related to this particular thread.

I am serious, New Nepal ko change sanga kasari tackle garne? Honestly, I do not support or oppose any parties, I do not like/hate anybody due to ethnicity/race/caste. But the 'revolution' in nepal is making me forced to be biased towads one. I do not want to be biased on such issues. I request everybody to share if you also feel like me, or know how to tackle this.

I agree NEWARS are very communal, but we don't descriminate or hate

others, as SACHOKURA said he knows many who HATES NEWARS.Why are

others so jealous that we all newars want to be as one, we were and

still are very communal tribe. We are very proud of our heritage, our

arts, culture, traditions, language, we are the minority in our own

land, our culture and language has been threatened to extinction, so

what is wrong to be communal to preserve our own culture and language.

About deshbhakta and rajbhakta, to me newars r the one who cares more

about country and king. Despite being named as kathars or deemed not

suitable for military purpose and representing just 6% population,

newars hail numbers of martyrs to tally the martys of any major

populations. Deny me if you can, from 2007 to 2046 newars contributed

more than any other tribes from the ground level (I am not talking abt

politicians) for the successful establishment of democracy. And when

kathmandu didnot take part in jana andolan-2, everyone blamed people

from kathmandu to be kathars and rajabadis. Is this the reward for 40

yrs of contributions ???

I again agree NEWARS are rajbhakta, because rajbhakti is our tradition

and it is our culture. I don't but my grand parents still regard king

as reincarnation of lord vishnu, no matter how bad things he might

have done. Where do you think the belief of king being

reincarnation of vishnu came from ?? Newars ....... We regarded Mallas

as reincarnation of god ...... we believed he played pasa with Taleju

devi ........ and prithvi narayan shah took advantage of this belief,

by exchanging dagger with KUMARI and representing himself as the

chosen one. Why PNS didnot take newars and still are not taken in his

military ranks ??? Is it because Newars are kathars as has been

portrayed ??? In contrary the truth is PNS was always scared of revolt

from newars after being defeated in every battles he had fought

against newars. The worst part is Newars are still not trusted in

military. No matter how much newars pay with their blood, it is always

not enough to buy the trust.

You have to stand on our shoes to understand how we think. If I was

alive during the time of PNS, I would have defended Kathmandu by my

life from being united as bigger Nepal. No matter how small Kathmandu

would have been, I would have been proud to have coutry of our own,

just as we are proud now to be Nepali no matter how small it is in

world map. How big do you think Nepal is anyway .... we are still

baise and chaubise if you consider bigger picture ??? Newars are the

defeated ones, don't ask how proud I am to be Nepali ??? Its like

asking people of Sikkim how proud they r to be Indian ??? I am proud

of Kathmandu, Newari is my mother language, Nepali is my NATIONAL

language. Sounds bitter, doesn't it ? but this is how the truth tastes

like.

Don't get me wrong by comparing kathmandu with sikkim. As for

kathmandu, generations have passed since unification and wounds have

healed, now I am as proud to be Nepali, as I would have been to be

from Kathmandu back then, where as for people of sikkim it is not the

same as their scars are still visible. By all this I am just retelling

our history from newari perspective. Now Newars are as proud of

unification as any other groups. Newars have never revolted against

the interest of Nepal, never demanded special treatments, never did as

we say in nepali "धमिलो पानीमा माछा मार्ने" and never treated shah dynasty as

enemies but have always been revered as god for newars could have

easily thrown out tribhuvan from being king after 2007.

To me healthy discussion is always good no matter what topic it is on,

as long as there is no HATRED involved. This thread caught my

attention as I saw this word HATE in sachokura's posting. There is a

saying " DON'T HIDE UR SKELETON IN YOUR CLOSET, IT WILL HAUNT YOU IN

AWKWARD MOMENTS ". sachokura if you have issues against newars, let it

come out, don't keep within urself or ur own people so that issues

will turn into HATRED. I have had several disputes with bahunkto in

sajha, but I regard him as good guy. I believe the person who you all

regard as racist is SAYAMI, to me he is speaking his mind, if he is

not correct, discuss with him, you will find lot more things to learn

from each other. HATING quietly is worst than speaking out the

dissatisfactions. HATING is what back stabbers do. I consider him my

best friend who has gut to tell I am stinking on my face when I forget

to take shower, so that I can correct my mistakes.

We should change our attitude, we should not take comments as criticism but as an advice from a friend. Debates can help us understand each other better and change ourselves to better suit each other.

I really appriciate your effort though.

I hear your voice, man. This part caught my attention:

"HATING quietly is worst than speaking out the

dissatisfactions. HATING is what back stabbers do. I consider him my

best friend who has gut to tell I am stinking on my face when I forget

to take shower, so that I can correct my mistakes"

This part explains something to me. You say that expressing is good? then I will start expressing, or at least think of it.
But the problem with me is, I didnt use to hate on religion/caste/region/ethnic background. So, does it worth learning these things or is it better stay away or is there any process of getting over with it without having to instigate such feeling at all?

copycat,

By all this I didnot mean whatever is happening in sajha is all good. Glad to know you do not hate based on religion/caste/region/ethnic background. But please do not start expressing just to retaliate, but to correct others' misconceptions and to put forward ur curiosities and dissatisfactions. Everything should come from head not from heart. One example of keeping issues within urself is Terai, we didnot know that they hated us to this limit that now they want separate country after 200 - 300 yrs. If they had put forward their problems years before, atleast we common people would have known and would have been able to distinguish madhesis from indians in kathmandu.

copycat if you have no issues why should you start expressing, but if you think someone is wrong correct him, if he doesnot listen, ignore him. Ours is like logne swasni ko jhagada, there may be issues but we have to maintain the love and respect we have for each other for being Nepali.
