Could anyone please answer the folloging queries? 1. What documents need to be submitted along with the I-130? 2. Is it true that you have to file ONLY the I-130 initially, and submit the documents later when RFE'd.? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Petition for Alien Relative Purpose of Form : A citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States may file this form to establish the relationship to certain alien relatives who wish to immigrate to the United States. A separate form must be filed for each eligible relative. Please note: USCIS processes Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, as a visa number becomes available. Filing and approval of an I-130 is only the first step in helping a relative immigrate to the United States. Eligible family members must wait until there is a visa number available before they can apply for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to a lawful permanent resident.

Well it depends who is the relative the petition is being filed for. Everything is listed out for each kind of relation in the instructions to fill the form which can be downloaded here

Ok, now i understand. Primary purpose of I-130 is to establish (or prove) your relation to USCIS that the relation really exists. You are talking about both GC and I-94 which is a bit contradictory. A person with green card shouldn't have I-94, unless you changed your status in the USA. But that I-94 is no longer required. So, It'd have been better if you had already submitted the required documents like 1. photocopy of your GC 2. marriage certificate (for spouse), birth certificate clarifying that you are the child's natural parent (for child) 3. photograph 4. and G-325A for both of you and if it were for your child, you should have submitted birth certificate clarifying that you are the child's natural parent. These are the only two relations for which a GC holder can file. If you have filed for somebody else, then I think that was waste of time and money. If you didn't submit those documents, probably USCIS will ask for them. It will just delay the process (which is already a long one). I Hope this helped
