BUTWAL, May 30 - "Neither can I show my wounds to all, nor express my pain in words."
This was what Srijana Subedi, a member of All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) affiliated to the Rastriya Jana Morcha (RJM) said here Tuesday, recalling the harrowing incident in Bhairahawa when cadres of the Young Communist League (YCL) mercilessly attacked her and her friends on their sensitive organs.
"How dare you, a woman, be a leader, huh?" she quoted the "berserk" YCL cadres as saying while battering her up. "They beat me in the sensitive parts with iron rods and jabbed with the fist."
Narrating her tale with an agonized look, she spoke during a press meet organized by the RJM student wing to inform people about Monday's incident in Bhairahawa where 25 students were injured after YCL cadres assaulted them. Over 100 students had reached Bhairahawa during a cycle rally they have planned from Chitwan to the Mahakali.
"My pleadings not to beat me up in my sensitive parts fell on deaf ears," she said, sobbing. "They chased me some 200 meters and thrashed me on the breast with iron rods, bricks and helmets."
Meera Basyal, another student victim, said that beatings left her sensitive organs swollen and she even had bleeding.
A brawl over graffiti that read "Stop YCL terror" painted by students at Buddha Chowk of Bhairahawa, took a nasty turn and both sides engaged in clashes.
Meanwhile, RJM and its student wing announced here that they would organize an "exposure campaign" across the country against the attack by the YCL and the terror created by it.
"Our ideology can't be erased by such inhuman incidents," said Rajendra Dhungana, chairman of the student wing, who was also injured in the incident.
