Come April 2008, Nepal shall become a Federal Democratic Republic, i.e. it will be divided into several sovereign regions with their own governments, under the "umbrella" of the Central Government. This system works well when the population is fairly homogeneous, or is if all different communities are dispersed in a fair proportion throughout the country, like the US, Switzerland or Australia.

That unfortunately is not the case with Nepal. We already have Madhesis burning the Nepali flag, and expelling people of Pahadi descent from their area. Our country also harbors other separatist groups like the Limbuwan and Tharuwan among others, who if given a chance will only be happy to create thier own country. Moreover, separatist movements will only get more impetus under a Federal system, since in Nepal people of a certain ethnicity seem to be concentrated in their own native regions

A Federal Republic will make local governments vulnerable  to foreign  intervention.  We all know that Nepali  politicians are well corrupt, and it is not hard to imagine them selling out to foreigners. Dividing the country into several small states will ensure more power to the corrupt leaders of local state governments. It is very likely that these groups will be funded by local governments and soon there could be a full fledged separatist civil war between warring groups and the central government.

Who gave these ass wipe politicians the right to elect themselves and declare Nepal a Federal Republic without the mandate of the people anyway. This is the most bogus thing I have ever seen and its consequences could very well violate the sanctity and sovereignity of Nepal.
Your thoughts??

I think it is good for Nepal. It will definitely increase foreign aid to Nepal. By the way what is the alternative.
The threat of maoists still there so need to put pressure on them.
